How to update sub-caste details for OBC NCL Caste certificate

Want to update sub-caste details on the OBC NCL caste certificate to avail of reservation benefits? Know through quick guidance from experts how to do this.

My brother is preparing for central-level competitive exams. We belong to Lingayat Banajiga caste (Banajiga being the sub-caste which falls under central OBC list). When he finished his 10th, there was no concept of sub-caste that had to be mentioned in school, so he has only written Lingayat in the caste column of school records which doesn't fall under OBC Central list.

How can we update this and avail the reservation benefit?

For claiming a reservation under OBC you have to obtain your caste certificate from the Mandal Revenue officer of your Mandal. You have to go to the MRO office and give an application for a caste certificate with the required details. You have to submit the same in the office. The concerned officer will get the details from the place of your birth and then he will give you a caste certificate that can be utilised as proof for the claim of reservation by you. What is mentioned in your earlier certificates may not be taken into account if you have this Caste Certificate issued by Revenue authorities.
