Are you interested in watching the stars and planets closely? Are you looking for an affordable and good telescope? Follow this thread to know the details.

I love to see stars and planets. It is a very exciting experience when you can see the stars and planets around you. One can not imagine how big is the universe. I want to see one such element of the universe that is our neighbor galaxy - Andromeda. Which is the best and most affordable telescope to view the Andromeda galaxy from home with a budget of around Rs. 15000/-?

  • What we learned is, most telescopes stops you at 1.5 degrees view whereas the cheap and best quality Binoculars help you for 5 to 7 degrees' view. So, you can view Andromeda galaxy from the open space field or terrace if you wait for few minutes patiently in the darkness. Try it.

You can also try to buy one of these Telescopes if you wishes to...

  • A telescope having 4 inch aperture would be good enough to view the Andromeda galaxy. As an alternative, one can use a very good pair of large lens binoculars and get some fairly good views of this galaxy.
Generally for seeing the galaxies and other deep space objects we have to use wider aperture telescopes but that makes them costly so 4 inch aperture would be a good compromise. Some 4 inch telescopes are costly so one can decide for lessor aperture also.
One should also note that there are two types of telescopes available and the refracting types are good for planetary observation while reflecting telescopes are better for deep sky observations.
Some telescopes available in the market in the desired price range are -
    (1) Pullox SSEA Pullox 175x262x350xMulty Power Reflector, Astronomical Reflecting Telescope, offered by the brand Pollox at Rs. 11000.
    (2) Celestron Specialty Series Firstscope Telescope, lightweight, Objective Lens Diameter is 76 millimetres, and price Rs 9999.
    (3) Gosky 20-60x60 HD Spotting Scope, price Rs 11499.
    (4) Orion 10033, FunScope, 76mm, TableTop Reflector Telescope, price Rs 16470.

  • One can see the Andromeda Galaxy very clearly in autumn when it is at its highest in the south. It is visible from the northern hemisphere throughout the year. This is a major Galaxy and we can see this without any additional aid to our eye. On no moon days and when the sky is dark our eyes can be able to find this. It can be seen as a faint misty patch. It will be at a start distance from the Milky Way. This galaxy is equally visible in binoculars even though there is some light outside. But in a dark and moonless sky, you can see the same much better.
You can find the galaxy easily by using binoculars. You can find out the oval shape of the galaxy. But you won't be able to identify any of the individual stars within it. You can see it through a smaller telescope of 4 inches in diameter. The Galaxy will be visible to you as a large elongated oval in shape. The core will be slightly bright.
You will get a telescope of 5 or 4-inch length easily with the budget you have. You can search on the internet for the best quality produ

  • To view Andromeda Galaxy clearly, this can be viewed when it is the highest position in the South and a condition should be achieved when the sky is clear preferably in autumn. This being the major galaxy, we would not require any further aid to see it distinctly. The only condition to see it is the sky should be luminous and in its absence we would not locate the galaxy. It follows a milky path extending from one side to other. By means of a binocular, we can view this object even in the darker night.
The galaxy can be seen with a highly magnified binoculars for its clear viewing. We could viw the cluster of stars but to isolate a single star existing in the galaxy, it would not be possible. For the clear visibility, diameter of telescope is important. In the smaller telescope, diameter should be preferably 4 inches.so as to have the distinct image. The galaxy path can be seen in the form of elongated oval size.
If we want to have the best one to locate the galaxy, there are different types of telescopes of length varying between 5 and 4 inch aperture and to have the best one, we can surf the Internet.
