What is a Google Local Guide and what are the advantages of posting Google reviews

Anyone can become a Google local guide. There are no procedures and formalities. Only thing is you have to download the google maps app and start posting reviews or you can add establishments and other places on the map if they are already not existing and you can take photos of places and establishments. Google will you some points and as the points increase your level as a local guide will go up. I am at level 8 Local Guide on Google. I am contributing there for the last 2 years. There are no monetary benefits.
We know that google maps is a useful app for many people. We can use this map for going to unknown places without asking anybody. So if we contribute to this, it will be useful to other people. So it is a service and charity activity only. Once you become a Level 4 local guide, Google may give you a Local guide badge, virtual only. This can be displayed on your Google profile. As a local guide, Google may be allowing you early access to some of its new features. Sometimes you will be getting some vouchers which offer you some rebates or discounts on some products. Generally. these products on which they offer discount are not useful for us in our regular usage and we have to purchase only as we have some discount coupons; So far I have never utilised the coupons given by them. I tell you that it is purely a service and charity service only without any financial benefits.

You search in Google for any Hotel or Restaurant or any shopping center etc. then the result will show the detail according to your keywords. You can get the info of the selected point / place at the right side where few would have given review of the place already.

You can also review if you have visited there and by writing few words or sentence, you can then get the level 1 (virtual rank) from the Google. Try to write a review of few favorite places and visited one. Your points and level will slowly increase in few hours or days. So, you become Google Maps Local Guide. They will also email you about your level and visitors' total view like a appreciation.

There is no monetary benefit but you get other benefits from Google, like, level and discount coupon etc. Also, apart from Local Guide tag from Google, you may be called for any local event organizing by Google or its group of member in the city. You can attend it regardless of your age or status to mingle with other Local guides to introduce and have talk with them about the various other opportunities for Local guide and reviewer. You would also become the best reviewer and guide from this contribution that many would come to know or get in touch with you for help or related offer.

If you add any related place photo beside few sentences' review then it will get huge views and appreciation compare to just few words / sentences. The level will increase in a faster way. The more points you get, the more chances of your level increasing.

Other than this, if there is no particular hotel or places on Google Maps then you can add it for verification. This will also help you to get appreciation and benefit for those who's on Business.

According to the Google, the local guides are the people engaged for writing reviews, sharing photos, answering questions or editing places and collecting facts on Google Maps. This could strengthen local guide programmes with more traffic and this could allow them the opportunity of getting more rewards commensurate to their efforts.
