  • As per the eligibility criteria for appearing in UGC NET one has to have a Masters degree or equivalent approved by UGC. M.Ed. is a Masters degree and you are elligible to appear in NET exam. Only thing is when you qualify in NET and apply for lecturer post in a college or university then your scope will be limited to teaching of education subject. That would be a point one has to keep in mind and with that idea only people go for Masters in specific subjects where scope for job is more. When more vacancies of lecturers are there across the country in a particular subject then it makes sense to do Masters in that subject to increase the chances of getting a lecturer position.

  • The information provided by you makes you eligible for the said NET test provided you have secured at least 55% marks in your aggregate in the last qualifying examination. Once you clear the NET test with high scores, your name will be indicated in the list of successful students. However to get the lecturer- ship in any constituent college with your M.Ed degree might be somewhat difficult if the eligible candidates have scored more marks than your self and due to their higher scores, they would be preferred leaving you behind in this race. Hence scope multiplies with the taking up of popular subjects which are in great demand almost in all colleges such as Economics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry etc. However, please try your luck this time. Attainment of your M.Sc degree is a time consuming procedure but if you take up side by side for your masters degree in Mathematics, it could be rewarding at the later stage.

  • People having M.Ed are eligible to sit for the UGC NET examination. But you have to meet the other requirements. The eligibility criteria for NET are as follows.
