MA Literary Arts is not one of the subjects in UGC NET , but it does say that I can choose a "related" subject to the one I have in MA.

  • You did your MA in Literary arts. You did BA in English. Now you want to appear for NET. Yes. You are eligible to attend the same if you meet the eligibility criteria. You can choose English as a subject for the NET examination as your MA is related to literature and you have English in your BA.
The eligibility criteria for NET is as follows.
    1. The candidate should be an Indian National.
    2. The candidate should have a master's degree in the related subject with a minimum of 55%. SC/St candidates with 50% marks are also eligible.
    3. No upper age limit for Lecturership. But for JRF maximum age allowed is 3 1 years.
