How to repair and restore an old silk sari
Having a treasured old silk sari that has been partly damaged? Looking for options and possibilities of getting the same restored or repaired? Check out this thread for a wide range of solutions from our experienced members.
My wife has her old Kanjeevaram silk sari (purchased for marriage) kept unused as it is old and damaged partly due to years of non-use. Though the body fabric is not damaged and looks fine, the border and pallu (the loose end of a sari) zari (a decorative gold thread used to create designs) is damaged.
Does anyone know whether the sari can be restored by removing the damaged border and pallu zari and replacing or reweaving with new border and pallu (with or without zari). Where this can be done? What may be the cost and time needed for that?
Hope to get some feasible and affordable solutions.
