  • A graduate candidate can appear for the IAS examination and apply for it by filling the application form as per the advertisement that is being advertised by UPSC well ahead of the exam every year. This examination is the highest civil services examination in our country and there is a tough competition as a large number of students appear in it. The examination has three parts - preliminary, mains, and interview. In recent times preliminary is held during the March/April and Mains is somewhere in October/November months. Interview will follow around 1-2 months later.
The good students generally get through the preliminary but then the competition becomes more tougher and even if a student clears mains the last big obstacle is interview.
But one need not to be demotivated by these things because if a student does good preparation then his or her chances of qualifying in this coveted examination increase.
It is said that a student desiring to compete in IAS should start his preparations right from the time when he is in his high school. It sounds strange but many students follow that methodology. The reason is that the syllabus of IAS is very vast and the general trend is that the questions are not repeated and every year are asked in a changed way testing the deep knowledge of the candidates.
Still a student can try as one is allowed to appear in it multiple number of times.
Many students join some reputed coaching to save time and get help in understanding the various topics and subjects that are new to them.
There is no substitute of hard work and that is what is required for getting success in IAS.

    Knowledge is power.
