  • Hiring managers of companies in India look for a bachelor's degree either in information technology or in computer science, which are the two basic qualifications for an IT job.
These degrees (BE or B.Tech.) differ slightly in their features: while the degree course in IT focuses on the communication and business areas of computing, the computer science course may involve more of the scientific aspects of computing.
Other bachelor's degrees that are widely accepted by hiring companies include Bachelor in Computer Applications (BCA) and Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering.
Master's degrees, such as M.Tech., MCA, and M.Sc. in Computers, and Master's in Systems Management. Certification, diploma, and PG diploma programmes from reputed institutions are also acceptable. But nowadays most of the IT companies are hiring candidates as per their IT skills from any graduations.

  • To get a job in information technology, the minimum educational qualification required is a degree. Initially, many companies are hiring only Engineering graduates or MCA candidates. But slowly there is a change in the requirement. Even B.Sc graduates with or without computers as a subject are also considered for a job in those companies. Any engineering graduate or any science graduate can apply for a post in the IT industry.
But if we have some special skills, we will have good demand and we can demand higher salaries also. Some small companies are giving employment to diploma holders also and also to B.Com graduates.
Even at the entry-level also very good salaries are being offered to BE/B Tech students if they have a specialisation in Computer Science or information technology.
In Addition to the basic qualification, if the students are doing some additional skills that are required for the IT industry, they are preferred. A certification course in any of the programming language is also preferred

  • As the IT companies ae more interested in freshers for most general jobs they recruit graduates including Engineering graduates.
As the present students have a basic level of knowledge in IT related subjects, the companies find it easy to train and orient them for their suitable jobs. For further skill development they have their own inhouse training systems or assisted alternatives for skill acquiring and up movement in career path.
Rather than a homogeneous group of same subject students, the freshers are recruited as a bouquet which can give more results in due course.
Even B.Com students are getting recruited for IT jobs.

  • Initially it was the norm of the IT giants to recruit fresh engineers especially in the stream of computer science to absorb in their companies to facilitate the working jobs related to different domains such as Java, c++, oracle, COBOL etc and later keeping in view of shortage of engineers in such fields, they even invited the fresh engineers of any stream to induct in their organisations with the suitable training imparted from their ends.
These companies develop the skills of the freshers according to the needs of the organisations.
Now there is the reversal of such trends in relation to absorption of the candidates.
They would prefer even science graduates, computer science graduates or even commerce graduates to graduate engineers. In that they are attaining twin objectives- firstly slashing their operating costs and secondly they find lot of youths dynamic and intelligent enough to manage their core operations effectively.
Present trend is to hire the specialists of digital marketing area so the IT giants don't remain out of tuned of the benefits accrued from this field.
In this domain, there is the judicious use of channels consisting of computers, mobile phones, digital platforms to enhance their selling products and services. It is the marketing mix which could provide the employers substantial benefits out of their operations.
This is the area where digital world can offer much more precise and data driven solutions.
In this regard, the aspirants must have fluent and impressive communication skills, creativity and the potentials to raise the company's revenue. The employers would be more interested to offer recruitments to the creative minded aspirants rather than considering them computer engineering graduates. They would horn the talents of the entrants in the areas of SEO Technology, Key Word Research and Websites Analytics for the revenue generation of the companies.
