  • Which are the UPSC jobs matching software engineering profile?

Are you a software engineer keen to get a UPSC government job? Find out with expert advice on which type of UPSC jobs you can get with this profile.

I'm a software engineer (full-time) and working as a software engineer. I have completed MBQM (WILP), and have overall 12 years of working experience. I am looking for a government job. Kindly suggest me a UPSC job for me for which I can apply in the OBC category and as per my age (34 years). Is it possible to get such an opportunity?

Note that please do not suggest checking on the UPSC portal. I'm checking it out regularly, but no matching opportunity has come up.

  • UPSC advertises various administrative as well as scientific positions and conducts exam for it. A software person can be eligible to apply for some of the scientific positions if not all. So one has to keep a watch on the posts advertised by them. What I will advise is to go through some of the job sites which are very meticulously displaying the various vacancies in our country advertised by so many organisations including UPSC and that way you would not miss the exact match that you are looking for. For that one has to register in those job sites. Some of these sites are freshersworld, indeed, timesjob etc.
There are many Govt organisations where scientists in various grades are recruited. For some of them a long experience is asked as eligibility and you can focus for such positions whenever they appear on the canvass of job sites. For many of those positions B.Tech/M.Sc./PhD are eligible.

    Knowledge is power.

  • To get a matching job in UPSC for you as a position of Software Engineer might be a time consuming process since such vacancies are floated not on regular basis and hence you need to take up the following steps so as to get a matching job in your case -
    1) If someone is working in UPSC office displaying the post of Scientists where you could be one of matching candidates for such a post, take feedback from him. He might suggest you the probable dates for such advertisements.
    2) Since you have 12 years experience in the Software field, possibility is there that you might not get adequate compensation for your long experience, you have to forgo your accumulated experience and would be placed in some scale not satisfying you.
    3) Waiting period might be too long to have a job which you are doing at present. Hence this aspect has to be thought of.
    4) Get yourself registered in timesjob.com, freshersworld etc so that exact position of vacancies in your case can be accessed from their ends. This could narrow the delay to get your matching assignments.
