Yet another blockade in Manipur

The United Naga Council has yet again declared an indefinite ban on all vehicular traffic on national and state highways in Naga tribe dominated areas of Manipur from September 4. The blockade was announced after two people were killed in Ukhrul district, about 85 kilometres from Imphal, the State capital, after police allegedly opened fire on protesters. The blockade is likely to hit hard the daily life of the people especially those living in the plain including the capital, Imphal. Manipur has already experienced a horrifying blockade in 2011. Now it is feared that another such experience is in the offing. The State Police made a mistake in firing against the protesters, but resorting to blockade is and paralysing the life of people through blockade is equally inhuman.
