Article 370 and its abrogation

Hi All,

If there are two sensitive issues for BJP to handle, one would be RSS and other is Article 370. So before coming to power, BJP promised that it would repeal Article 370 and now after gaining power, as any politician does a somersault , Modi government is not exceptional. Now, alliance with BJP by PDP is almost finalized with the consensus of no abrogation of the article. So, J&K is still going to enjoy the autonomous status. But, my question is what prevents BJP from revoking the article which disintegrates Kashmir from India? Why should Indian army struggle at borders for securing it from Pakistan when we could not solve our internal political disputes to integrate it with our constitution? Why do they need a special status even after 68 years of independence and when Muslims are so secured in India compared to any other countries. Share in your thoughts.

There is a saying in Tamil that " Akkaraiku Ikkarai patchai" means when we see the shore from this side, it looks more greener. Same is the case of BJP. When it was in opposition, it ran the commitment of re appealing the article 370 of J & K and now it is taking back its words. But we must know that being the vulnerable state in the border abetting Pakistan, this state must always be vigil from the external disturbance and hence continued presence of army in that region is necessary for the safety and well being of the locals and also for the National interest.

The BJP, PDP alliance in J&K is a glaring example of opportunism and only shows how political parties can change colors for the sake of power. These two parties with entirely different ideologies and plans have got into an accord, no doubt, with selfish motives for the future just to establish their position in the disturbed state. It comes as no surprise because the primary aim of BJP is not national interest but projection of Mr Modi as the saviour.

The BJP had to compromise their stand on Art 370, the abrogation of which was at the top of their agenda. The fact is that bringing about a change in the status of the State is not an easy task. The present adjustment by the BJP will only help in bringing negative results with the PDP gaining more time to keep the autonomous status intact for at least the next six years.
