Hindi is NOT the National language of India

Hindi is not national language of India
I found many people in India think that hindi is our national language. even some school books also contain that hindi is our national language.
but it is not the truth.

The truth is that there is no national language of india.
hindi in devnagari script and english are official languages of india.
but, hindi is not our national language.

Neither the Constitution of India nor Indian law specifies a National language. Article 343 of the constitution specifies that the official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script. Article 354 specifies that the legislature of a State may by law adopt any one or more of the languages in use in the State or Hindi as the Language or Languages to be used for all or any of the official purposes of that State.[3] Section 8 of The Official Languages Act of 1963 (as amended in 1967) empowers the Union Government to make rules regarding the languages which may be used for the official purposes of the Union, for transaction of business in Parliament, and for communication between the Union Government and the states.[4] Section 3 of G.S.R. 1053, titled "Rules, 1976 (As Amended, 1987)" specifies that communications from a Central (Union) Government office to a State or a Union Territory in shall, save in exceptional cases (Region "A") or shall ordinarily (Region "B"), be in Hindi, and if any communication is issued to any of them in English it shall be accompanied by a Hindi translation thereof.

Is it so? Then shall we vote for English language? Good... Thought provoking...

It shows that union communication can be in Hindi. What is the reason for chosing Hindi as the communication meduim ? Many south Indian's donot able to understand Hindi. Especially Tamil Nadu state is not promoting Hindi Language even as a subject in school level.

Why can't we take a step to promote Hindi (as it is the official language)? We all talking about unity in integrity. Then why we feel that using Hindi as official language is not fair and doing so is an insult to all other Regional languages?

Whatever but it is not less then the national language.
    It really needs promotion.

I wasn't aware of it at all till you mentioned RAFI.It is a difficult issue to decide which language to be considered as our national language since we have variety of languages in india. But since Hindi is much popular among the indians we can consider it.I disagree with aromal for choosing english as our national language ,though it is an important language for communication i feel choosing an language that didn't orignate in india would not be right.

    Rahul my friend,
you have posted the same response twice.
    By mistake?
One thing I must say your suggestion is not bad,but I would still promote our languages. Most of the Europeon countries do not speak English,in fact they hate English, still they are among the developing nations.Look at China,Japan,Norway,Denmark,France and many more.Spanish is spoken in many parts of the world,so is French. Then why shall we go for English only¡
Being inspired and getting used to others is different thing, but it just doesn't make sense to forget ours.If we try,we can break the boundaries of other countries and carry our Hindi to them.
    Thanks again Rahul

    Hi Rafi,

Thankyou for your valuable information.Actually I also thought that Hindi is our national language.I had heares somthing as you stated before I didn't trust it.But most of the poeple are in a beleif that Hindi is our national language. And I need a clarification from you that if Hindi is not our national language then why the govt.are printing the question papers either in English or Hindi in almost all the areas.

I think you are wrong Rafi.Because Hindi is really our national language though many people speak English here but still hindi is spoken by majority of people in India. Only Hindi is the language which is spoken in many parts of India. English is an international language but Hindi is our national language.

I think Hindi in devnagri script is our National language. It has been accepted universally, I will not comment on Constitution as I am not sure about it, but if both Hindi and English are the official language then why Hindi is made a cumpulsion in most of the Central Government offices. I think it is our National language.
