Today is Indian Army Day. We salute the brave hearts who serve our country with valour & safeguard our borders, as also their selfless dedication in helping out in times of natural calamities. We pay a special homage to those who sacrificed their lives in battling militants and terrorists.

Thank you Jawans and Officers of our Indian Army for being there for us, always. Jai Hind.

Just now I was coming through AOC center in Secunderabad which is the base for Army in Southern Command and I could see new roads, well decorated surroundings, nicely painted vicinity etc. Now I could understand the importance of today. My heartfelt thanks to all the Jawans of this lovely Nation who are safeguarding our borders when we are asleep. Today when we are celebrating the Pongal. our Fauji is having a strict vigil at the border. By celebrating Army day we are remembering the great sacrifices of the Military personnel towards the security of Nation.

On 15 January 1949, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa (then Lieutenant General ) took over charge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from General Sir Francis Butcher, the last British Commander-in-Chief of India. The Army Day is celebrated every year on 15 January to commemorate the event.
Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

Thanks Vandana for bringing this thread in ISC to thank our army men's who protecting us from the border and helping us in case of natural calamities. It is duty of us to salute and pay homage to brave hearts who sacrificed their lives in various battles in the past.
When most of the other special days are celebrating at a higher level, why Indian army day is not considered that much when compared to other special days. There are very less number of posts in Facebook regarding Indian army day.

Whatever happens life should move on...
    Thanks Karthik

On this day in 1949 K.M. Cariappa took over the baton to become this first C-in-C of Indian Army. Although he was the first Army Chief but he got the baton of Feld Marshal after Maneckshaw. So, in the present order of Army seniority, he is placed at second position.
    Come as you are!

Our soldier always promised to protect our country not only from the external threat but also from the internal too. We must be very sincere in boosting their morale in all tough situation. Jai Hindi.

We are all habituated to set goals for others by excluding ourselves. We practiced to say that the language sanskrit is meant for brahmins, this is for him and that is for him etc., like wise the remembering martyrs, jawans, National leaders etc., only meant for Government Officers and not for citizens. We public enjoy the Republic Day, Independence day, Gandhi Jayanthi as holiday to go to movies/enjoying in the house. We are not remembering the National leaders but we are remembering political leaders and cine actors.
