Why some elders bless us " Jug Jug Jiyo " ?

It is the customary for the young ones to have the blessings of elders at home and there are many ways the elders bless those who prostate before them. In our religion when ever we meet the elders, whether it is relative, friend or even some unknown person accompanying our known people, we have the courtesy to prostate before them and they would bless by sprinkling akshada which is made from rice mixed with sandal or haldi. Most of the elders in North India wish the young ones Jug jug Jiyo, that means stay for eras together. Is that really possible. Can members give their best comment on this ?

Basically this blessing means: "May you leave thousand years" ("Tum jiyo hazaron saal"). In my opinion, this is a meaningless blessing which is impossible, and everybody knows it.
Beware! I question everything and everybody.
