    Significance of Sharad Purnima

The Autumn Season is the festive season for our country. It begins with the Dussera Festival. The Sharad Purnima or the full moon night after the Dussera has great religious significance for the people of West Bengal, Asom and Odisha.
On this day, the people of these states perform the puja of Goddess Laxmi with much enthusiasm. The Bengalees call it the Kojagori Laxmi Purnima. In most of the houses, people try to be awake the whole night as it is believed that on this day, Goddess Laxmi visits the houses where people are awake and shower Her blessings.
It is also the last full moon night before the winter sets in and envelopes the earth with its shroud of mist. A visit to the Taj Mahal on this night is a memorable experience.

While In South we were doing poojas for the goddess Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswathi, during Dassera festivities, the same may be the extension in case of Sharad Purnima being celebrated to invoke goddess Lakshmi. Nevertheless after Dassera much importance is given to the Goddess Lakshmi and even Deepavali is purely celebrated with this Goddess as the center of attraction. Mahalakshmi would visit those home which are clean, which are free from bad words and irresponsible people, Goddess would visit and bless those homes where the elders would be praying her with full devotion and expectations.

Good information. I am not aware of this Sharad Poornima. It is again news that for Goddess Lakshmi also we do fasting and will be awake whole night. Here in the south, we will try to be awake whole night on Siva rattri day.
Deepavali will be next no moon day. On that day all will perform pooja to Lakshmi Goddess.

    always confident
