Birthday of Swami Vivekananda: National Youth Day

On 12th January, 1863, the great man was born in North Calcutta. He was a brilliant student, completed his Graduation from Scotish Chuch College of Calcutta. Leaving aside material life, he became a disciple of Ramkrishna Paramhansa. After the death of his Guru, he travelled all over India and went to the USA and England to make people aware of the glory of 'Sanatan Dharma'. He was fearless. His writings in Bengali and English havee been permanent source of inspiration to the youth of the country. He formed Ramkrishna Mission. The Mission has now spread all over the world and is engaged in the service of humanity.

Since 1985, 12th January is celebrated as National Youth Day. Ministry of Youth Affairs, Government of India, organises a Youth Festival for three days every year which commences on 12th January.

On this day, I quote Swami Vivekananda's favourite quote from the Katha Upanishada: "Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is reached".

Some thoughts of Swamiji: Who is helping you Don't forget them. Who is loving you, Don't Hate them? Who is believing you, Don't cheat them?
Anything that makes you weak physically, intellectually and spiritually, reject as poison.
Swamiji messages are blessings for us. He showed the right path to follow.
In my opinion, students should read his autobiography.

Service to mankind is service to God.

A noble man much ahead of times and age, Swami Vivekananda who passed away at a very young age of 39 has left his mark on India and the world in a manner that he would still be remembered for many years to come by. What is great is apart from his work in India, he had toured the West twice and had been received well by people. His quotes and views are a constant source of inspiration to many in India.

My respects to the great noble person of this era Swami Vivekanand whose teachings still bring the refined thinking in every person. His famous quote "Arise, Awake and stop not till the goal is reached" holds good in every ones life. We have to plan things in such a way that there must be awakening within us and also those who are likely to gave nod to our actions and thus the goal can be achieved with ease but some times with challenges faced. Never the less he made a great remark that life if full of challenges and it must be met with great gusto to achieve the goal. Hence he is a great inspiration to younger generation.
