Partha, why are you feeling jealous?

Almost everybody knows that I am a poorly-paid Government Officer. I manage to somehow run my family with my earnings. I generally don't travel by air. In more than 90% cases, I travel by air on Government expenses (while attending official work) or by availing Leave Travel Concessions (LTCs). I travel by air at my own expense only in extreme emergency. Air travel at my own expense pinches me very hard. During my student days also, I travelled by air on rare occasions availing my father's LTCs.

Yesterday, I read a news-item. The State Government of Karnataka arranged a special chartered plane to bring great (middle-aged) student leaders like Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehla Rashid, Umar Khalid (i.e., members of 'Bharat tere tukde honge' gang) to Bengaluru. Why? These middle-aged student-leaders were celebrating the birthday of slain journalist Gauri Lankesh on yesterday.

I am feeling really jealous. These great students always travel in business class. Their airfare is always 'arranged'. Most probably they are great students (perhaps next to Einstein) and their ideas would bring revolutionary changes in the lives of the downtrodden. What type of student was I? Why didn't I take the path of these middle-aged student leaders during my student days?

And the State Government of Karnataka! Have the murderers of Gauri Lankesh been arrested? Have those dead farmers of the state who committed suicide donated their property and money to the State Government for this lavish celebration?

    Partha! You are really jealous!

It is true. The poor farmers are committing suicide for lack of food one side. No leader has any sympathy towards them. It is really mind-blowing to hear that people who showed disrespect to the country are being provided at the cost of somebody else's money. I think this is possible only in a country which is the biggest democratic set up in the world.

What you are mentioning would be viewed by many politicians as being silly sentiments of a middle-class tax-payer like us.
Either way, Political parties are like two sides of the coin. While we think one is good, the other is also similar. I'm not sure why the state government would fly them down because it's facing falk for the lack of progress in the probe.
Yesterday was Gauri Day, held in remembrance of the birth anniversary of the slain journalist. There was a report last year which quoted Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehal Rashid and Umar Khalid were like her adopted children.
Maybe these individuals are potential leaders/crowd pullers, they would be useful during election campaign time for the parties.
The troublemakers for one party would be friends for the opposite party and hence welcomed with open arms.

  • #624839
Mr. Natarajan: Kanhaiya Kumar and Umar Khalid may be the adopted sons of Gauri Lankesh (like mother like sons), but why did the State Government spend a huge amount to bring them to Bengaluru? Was Gauri Lankesh an adopted child of Sid?
Beware! I question everything and everybody.

This is the Great Indian tamasha! After spending four years in office, the CM became a true follower of Gandhiji on 30th Jan'18. This leader seems to be inviting controversies causing much embarrassment to his own party. Unfortunately, Indian politics are turning into such an ugly turn to downplay their political rivals and everyone is playing their own cards to win the great political gambling by using every incident as their trump card.

Other than a report about an allegation by Indrajit Lankesh about the State-sponsored flight of Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehla Rashid and Umar Khalid, I could not get hold of any report which actually suggested such a move. The Gauri Day was a program organized by the Gauri Lankesh Trust in Karnataka. I would request Mr Partha to kindly provide the source from where he got this confirmed news as posted by him.

Saji Sir, do you think your response (#624883) is fully relevant to the subject-matter of this post? Earlier our ME directed me "to refrain from this constant bickering". She further opined: "It really is not necessary and simply spoils the forum. It's so exasperating and frustrating to constantly see such needless spats!"

So, most humbly and respectfully I request you not to post irrelevant responses to my posts. I would be very happy to know the reason of my jealousy and the ways to get rid of it.

Beware! I question everything and everybody.

Saji's request for the source of the news is a humble attempt to protect Partha from fake news and therefore the jealousy emanating from it. It is completely relevant to the thread as it is needed to check its authenticity.
Partha is requested to provide it rather than becoming a victim of fake news.

"Other than a report about an allegation by Indrajit Lankesh about the State-sponsored flight of Kanhaiya Kumar, Shehla Rashid and Umar Khalid, I could not get hold of any report which actually suggested such a move."-If Indrajit Lankesh states anything, it has no importance. Is it so?

Who are those great men/women who have been formally authorized to categorize fake news?

There is something called common sense that has to be applied while going through online articles. Postcard.news is a discredited right-wing portal which has no other agenda except to publish pro-government and pro-Hindu posts.

Believing something that has been published on Postcard will appeal to only those who are specifically looking for such types of news.

That being said, the news is true that Kanhiya Kumar and Shehla Rashid were invited and present at the event. I couldn't find any mention of Umar Khalid in the articles I saw nor in the event photos. Another thing to blind followers of fake news portals, the high court has specifically mentioned that there are no recordings showing Kanhiya shouting anti-national slogans. Blaming Kanhiya for being anti-national is just an attempt to silence people who speak against the present Government. This is quite similar to the fear tactic employed in Pakistan in name of Blasphemy.
In addition to the 2 people mentioned above, actor Prakash Raj was also present.
In the end, I condone this exploitation of a day to remember Gauri Lankesh to exploit political gains.

"Another thing to blind followers of fake news portals, the high court has specifically mentioned that there are no recordings showing Kanhiya shouting anti-national slogans. Blaming Kanhiya for being anti-national is just an attempt to silence people who speak against the present Government.''-Yes, Sir. Kanhaiya is an epitome of nationalism!

Postcard News is a discredited right-wing portal and Janta ka Reporter has set a new standard of journalism in the world! As I have already stated, who are these great men/women who have been formally authorized to categorize fake news?

Not only Kanhaiya, Khalid and Sehla Rashid, another two top-level libus, Prakash Raj and Jignesh Mewani were also present.

But Alas! Common people of India have of late become very very scared of these libus. They are avoiding these libus just like people in earlier days avoided the lepers.

Beware! I question everything and everybody.

Partha at #624902, I agree with what the ME has said but did she say that one should silently keep listening to something that does not sound logical? It is up to you to believe in a right winged portal's news but then why do you find those who do not support your views to be liberal?

I have requested you many times before that when you quote a source, please do not bring up blogs or lopsided online reports; give an authentic source and share only confirmed reports.

We are here to discuss our views and not to be ridiculed (I can understand sarcasm but should it not have some limit?) by those who feel that they are being opposed. Please stick to the point of discussion instead of diverting to your usual stamping of others as liberals or 'libus' and so on as you people have named them, the repetition of which has become quite irritating.

I don't think ISC should be made a permanent platform to spread news that is lopsided and is not authentic. Now, please do not start the blame game as usual but remember that whenever you are posting a report, let the source be one which is generally considered believable and not the one of your liking or choice.

Saji Sir, thanks for your valuable comments. I am reiterating my question: Who are those great men (or women) who have been formally authorized to classify true news and fake news? And who will confirm the news? Who will declare what Indrajit Lankesh says is not correct?

But again we are diverting. Aren't those middle-aged students always traveling by air? Who is bearing that cost? Shouldn't I feel jealous?

Beware! I question everything and everybody.
