Today is international day of happiness.

Today ie March 20th is declared as the International day of happiness. This year's theme is Share Happiness - focusing on the importance of relationships, kindness and helping each other. This is celebrated all over the world by all member countries of UN. This was conceptualized and founded by prominent United Nations special advisor Jayme Illien to inspire, mobilize, and advance the global happiness movement in 2013.The first International Day of Happiness was celebrated at the TedXTeen conference in New York and Ndaba Mandela, grandson of the late President of South Africa Nelson Mandela and Chelsea Clinton, daughter of US President Bill Clinton and US Senator and Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton participated in the launching. The United Nations and the United Nations Foundation will hold ceremonies and celebrations on this day every year. I wish all the members of ISC a happy day of happiness and hope the coming year will bring all of them many happy moments.

International day for Happiness ? When the day is good and everything happens according to our expectations means we get lots of happiness. However it is good that there is a day to remember for happiness.

Ideally, each day of each person across the globe should be a day full of happiness instead of only one particular day in a year.

Incidentally, India was placed in the 133th position out of 156 countries in the recently published World Happiness Index 2018. Our neighbouring countries including Pakistan fared better in the list.

Among the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were ranked 75th,101st, 97th, 116th and 115th respectively,

Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

Yes, let's have more happiness amid all the gloom of the politicial issues and the bank scams that has been in our thoughts over the recent times.
Happiness such a simple term but yet difficult to experience and be shared by all. We just need to look at the face of a child who smiles instantly and spreads joy among the people around it. Perhaps we can learn from children too.

Incidentally, today is also the world sparrow day. A sad reminder of the dwindling numbers and non -existence in many large cities. I remember seeing sparrows in abundance a few years ago, nesting around the homes and shed, flying into the balconies or the window sill but no longer now. If any residential neighbourhood has sparrows around please feed them and encourage their numbers.
