Atrocities against women. Who is culpable, our menfolk at home? society? a tame police/judiciary?

We have been having a string of henious crimes against women and girl children being happening in various parts of the country.

Most of use are angered, we have forwarded messages 'justice for Asifa", some would have gone to the candle lit protests. Without going into details, let's introspect ourselves and see why this is happening.

Every crime has a motive, a deviant mind and a deterrent that can prevent it. Sometime back, I read a Japanese quote which goes like ' the society lays the ground for the crime, the criminal just walks (executes) the path (crime)'.

Is it our patriarchal and suppressible attitude towards women? or has to society failed to have adequate measures for protection of our women and children? is the police force/judiciary tame like a toothless tiger which is not a deterrent to the ones's who commit the crime?

It looks as if we need to introduce a chapter on how to respect women in the curriculum of the middle school itself?

Statistically, in India, about 106 rapes are committed daily and 4 out of 10 victims are minors. Also, as per National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB)'s records, in 94.6 percent cases, the perpetrators were none other than the victim's relatives including brothers, fathers, grandfathers, sons or acquaintances.

Should we continue the discussion further or shy away by hanging our heads in shame?

People among us are still treating persons like Asaram Bapu and Baba Ram Rahim as saints. There was a news that in one private school, the teachers hinted the girls to adjust with the school inspection team in lieu of 85% marks and some money also.

There cannot be any justification of rape like crimes. However, it is just a matter of saying 'no' or 'yes' as the story of the well acclaimed movie 'Pink' goes.

It is not that the statistics published in the reports reflect true picture. The perpetrators as well as the victims are much more. In many more cases, the story never sees the light of the day and goes unreported.

Let us encourage each other in sharing knowledge.

My opinion in this subject is the judiciary system and police put together are responsible for the present day status. When somebody is committing such a nasty act why should these people be so soft on them. Why an action can't be taken in no time so that the other people will have a fear of committing the same. A young man who commits a mistake may be punished or may be found not guilty at his 60th year. So he will be given ample time to commit similar mistakes again. Instead of delaying so much if the culprit gets a severe punishment then and there it self nobody will dared to do such acts. In our country no one has either respect or fear for police and judiciary.
Another issue is the nature of this society. They will simply ignore the issue in which our neighbors are suffering and they may never go collectively against the evil forces. They feel it is a waste of time. The mindset of the people should change and the culprit should be punished to death there itself and everyone should collectively stand. Then only people may have a fear and their mentality will get changed.

It is very true that some of the bad elements in our social systems are to be blamed for atrocities on women and minor members of the society.

Unfortunately, our governing systems are not able to punish these culprits with severe punishments due to lack of willingness or weak legislature. The trauma suffered by women simply becomes a matter of mockery in the court of justice.

Until unless our society is not reformed with an intention of providing respect to the ladies and care of children from offenders, we will not be able to come out of this syndrome.

    Knowledge is power.

Atrocities on women are being committed by those who want to create a scene and gather attention for themselves. The person who commits that crime is either done that through the influence of alcohol or by taking cue from the films which shows such kind of scenes in detail. In Hindi movies and even the serials aired on televisions do contain anti women scenes which are seen and enjoyed by the society and the custodian of women rights never raised the issue of scenes showing women in bad shape. Women has been used for every purpose to gain popularity and that may be a ad, ramp walk and acting in movie. Our laws are not that strict enough to punish those who err at women. In those days even kissing scenes are not shown on movies and treated as A certificate but now invariably every movie has the scene of women harassment, rape and exploitation of women , teasing and so on.
