Bad Weather warning for Delhi and 20 states.

While the sandstorm that hit Rajasthan and other states last week is still fresh in our memories, the met office has issued an extreme weather warning,

This includes twenty states Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, WB, Manipur and others. High-velocity winds have hit Delhi last night and this warning for thunderstorms and squalls would be effective until Wednesday.

India Meteorological Department has mentioned that Delhi and parts of North India could be hit by winds up to speeds of 70 kmph. This is the effect of a western disturbance.

For Delhi, residents are advised to unplug electrical equipment and not to have a bath during the lighting and storm (risk of lighting travelling through the water pipes).

Please check for weather alerts and news before travelling especially in the evenings. Stay safe.

My special request: All non affected states should render assistance to the affected states if the weather forecast is true and valid. I wish there should be no bad weather as predicted by the MET department.

Yes Sir, The whole Nation should chip in, and do all that is necessary to restore normality. We should understand that these are times that people really do need help.

Let us not blame the Government, as the Government itself could not have done nothing. The rehabilitation measures need to be put in place on a very fast footing. People need to take all precautions in this situation.

It is a natural disaster and no agency government or non-government cannot do anything. We should try to minimize the loss by this type of natural disaster. If we cannot do anything let at least pray for people of affected areas.
    Honesty is the best policy.

Enjoyed the mild storm yesterday night (Bengalis don't call it storm). The weather became cool. Fortunately, there was no power-cut due to this high wind. No rainfall. Today morning I went to the terrace and got around 80-85 unripe mangoes (but ready to be consumed as pickles/chutney).

Even now the weather is cool and enjoyable.

Beware! I question everything and everybody.

Since the Indian Meteorology department has predicted the bad weather well in advance, government authorities should swing into action to minimise the ill effect of the bad weather. Government should not have any lethargical attitude and ignore such a warning that would seriously affect the life.

Today there are already dust storms in some places and there are mixed news about the havoc the weather is playing at places. I have seen one news where the standing crop has got fire and it is spreading in the fields.

The role of private agencies, help groups and NGOs become very crucial and important in such times as even Govt is unable to contain the damages.

    Knowledge is power.

There is imbalances because of execution in excess that we are facing these & in the near future the repetitions would be much then expected. Although its good to share the predictions & briefing the precautions the same time but the preservation of the resources become more important so as to restrict these occurrences from its high intensity.

    Be safe.

During the crisis the Nation came forward and every citizen was ready to help. But this being big dust storm, the rescue and relief operations even planned in high order cannot be done due to bad weather. However the entire North India seems to be affected by the vagaries of nature and if possible India should seek the help of UN on humanitarian grounds to rehabilitate and help those affected by bad weather. This is the first time the alert comes for 20 states and remaining few states which are not affected are concentrated in South and hence regarded as safe by the met authorities.
