Shortly Electrical buses will start running in Hyderabad.

The Telangana Road Transport Corporation is going to introduce electrical buses as city buses. The Surface transportation ministry of Central government is taking steps to introduce these buses in a big way in the entire country, to take care of pollution problems. As an initiative to introduce these buses the ministry has taken 5 cities in the country and Hyderabad is one among them. The TSRTC wants to introduce 100 buses in this scheme. They have already ordered the buses. The central government will pay one crore for one bus under this scheme. The BYD Organisation of China has bagged this order and the central government will pay the money directly to the manufacturer. Initially, TSRTC wants to run these buses to the airport from various parts of the city. Soon we will see these buses on the road.

Good that the central and state governments have started looking into alternatives in terms of providing the transport system from the traditional diesel, CNG to Electric driven vehicle now. State government corporations are unable to bear the operational cost as the diesel rates are invariably raised by the oil companies and at the same time the government is not allowing corporation to charge extra from passengers. So to avoid this, the electric buses are the answer. There wont be any pollution, just plug, charge and go. The capacity of passengers would also be more and the corporation can charge more citing luxury.

The cost of fuel is rising, so do the level of pollution. In this scenario the only alternative to fuel driven transport is the Electric driven one. In all aspects the central and state governments must cooperate to implement developmental projects and it should be followed in all of the states.

Here the government can determine the roll out process of pollution free electric vehicles in states on the basis of the level of pollution in each state.

But what I feel that , given the worst conditions of the road, over loading passengers in every bus, does the electric bus have the capacity to pull ? And we know the electric cars were failure earlier and thus this apprehension.

The apprehension of failure is quite logical, given the poor quality of roads. Another thing, which I feel needs to be addressed in due course is the manufacturing of electric vehicles. We have so many potential engineers, entrepreneur and bigwigs in the industry, then why are we unable to manufacture these vehicles here in India?

I welcome this step. Every Indian metro city must adopt this step. This will reduce pollution. Not only that, this would reduce our over-dependence on petroleum products. However, the authorities must see whether these electric buses are fully fit to run on Indian roads.
Beware! I question everything and everybody.
