Launching of NDSO is in the right direction. A lot more needed with proper utilization of technology

Two days earlier the government launched National Database on Sexual Offenders (NDSO) online, which will be available only to the law enforcement agencies. It will have all the necessary details of the offenders which will be used to track the progress of each case. Sexual offences are on the rise and it is always necessary to keep a record of the offenders to proceed further in the enquiry. However this database will not be made public.

Keeping a proper record of any issue is an important aspect and along with this the government must find ways to track the happenings inside each shelter home across the country. It's really frightening to know that 23% of the reported sexual assaults occur in shelter homes and their condition is really appalling. Most of the audited shelter homes do not maintain a proper record of the children who are residing there. The activities in these shelter homes warrant immediate intervention from the government and an online database to track and monitor each shelter home is a must. Indeed it's a herculean task, but with proper use of technology, crimes in those places can be reduced too.

This is really good news for the law enforcing agencies as every time a offender is punished , he is escaping from bail and then commits the same crime and this time without risking to any clue. So this arrangement by central government is the most sought after arrangement for the entire police force of the country , who can now coordinate and cooperate with other states to nab the offenders with proof and even have the PD act imposed on them if they are regular offenders.
