India's first autism township is coming up in West Bengal

All of us are aware of Autism. This is a developmental disorder in a child characterized by impairment of social and interpersonal communications. One needs a lot of patience to deal with an autistic child and at times the treatment plan may have to be continued throughout the life. The first autism township is coming up in West Bengal and it is also the first one to come up globally. India Autism Centre (IAC), a non-profit organization, is behind the project. IAC is a joint venture between the state government and a private entity and the construction of the township is slated to begin in 2019.

According to statistics, India has around 18 million people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and this project is going to help them immensely. There will be boarding facilities for 350 persons and more than 200 children can avail the daycare facilities in the township. There is a proposal to provide training to the teachers dealing with autistic persons and the township will have tie-ups with various institutes all over the world to provide the residents with a wholesome approach for their all-round development. It is indeed a good initiative, where people suffering from the developmental disorder will receive all the attention and care needed to lead a good life.

This is a very good news. India Austin Centre (IAC) is doing a very good service to these patients. We should appreciate the Organisation for this initiative. This is the beginning. Many such organisations should come forward and help these people. It is also good to note that they provide training to some people who will be involved in dealing with autistic persons. It is also a good initiative to have links with institutes all over the world dealing with these people. Let the State Government and Central Government also join hands with this organisation and see that more patients will get help from the organisation. I wish the organisation all the best. I hope this organisation will not deceive people.
    always confident
