Which is the longest word in the English language?

Long back, when I was doing my graduation, this question in the title of this post was asked by a friend and we tried to answer with the help of a dictionary and got some long words especially connected to medical or science.

Later on, I came to know about a word which was reflecting only in one of the dictionaries (Oxford dictionary, if I remember correctly) at that time. The word was 'honourificabilitudinity' and it did not mean anything big but simply was a literary synonym of 'honour'!

I have gone through some technical words which are also quite long but so far not come across any word which is officially declared as the longest one.

Do you have information or knowledge about such long words or the longest one in English language?

Umesh, a search in Wikipedia will surely help.
