What a catch, man! What a catch! There was unnecessary controversy because of his loose tongue. He was punished. But Indian team wanted him for the preparation of oncoming World Cup. Captain Virat Kohli batted for him. Ultimately, he returned to Indian ODI team after a two-match (?) suspension.
He joined Indian team at New Zealand just on the eve of the third ODI. The captain didn't bother about the jet lag after a long journey. And he justified his inclusion in the very first match. He bowled his medium-pace with accuracy and tied down the New Zealand captain Kane Williamson by bowling series of dot balls.
In-form Williamson became impatient. On the 17th over of the New Zealand inning, Yuzvendra Chahal bowled a flighted ball to Williamson. He came forward and hit the ball towards short mid-wicket. The fielder who joined the Indian team came out of nowhere, dived full length and made an impossible catch possible. After the departure of in-form captain, New Zealand lost direction, could not score adequate runs and ultimately lost the match and series.
Captain Kohli and former player Mohammad Kaif (known as one of India's greatest fielders) praised the young player. Kaif said that the wicket of Williamson was, in actuality, a fielder's wicket.
Hardik Pandya, who was shamed by all only ten days ago because of his irresponsible comment in a television-show has returned to the Indian team. No doubt, India team will have more option after the inclusion of the medium-pacer-cum hard-hitter-cum brilliant-fielder.
