February 28, we celebrate as National Science Day.Our Nation celebrate 28th February as the National Since Day, every year, since 1928. It is the day on which our Nobel Laureate Dr. C.V. Raman brought out his theory, generally referred as 'Raman effect. The decision to celebrate the day every year was to keep the scientific temper among the people.
But this celebration is generally limited to a talk or seminar in educational institutions or science organizations. Beyond that no effort is seen in popularizing science or creating scientific temper among people.
This celebration must aim at popularising science and scientific outlook among all the people. It must aim at developing a sense of optimism among all. It must instill in them a sense of self confidence and help rebuilding a changed world with a better tomorrow.
The celebration of the day must try to expose and oppose the abuse of scientific knowledge detrimental to the interests of the majority. With equal importance it must expose and oppose the abuse of environment.
Those who are engaged in scientific activities must work to transform lab technologies to mass technologies. Through these initiatives we must prove that science is not a tool for destruction but a force for social and economic uplifting or a social revolution.
