Are we so easy to mislead?

Facebook took down 100s of fake Facebook pages which belongs to two of the most important parties in our country. As per the latest report, both political parties spend crores of rupees on promoting their own party and spreading fake news about opposite camp. We can see a lot of such fake post in social media which are hard to believe but still spread among the general public. Political parties have their own IT cells for the sole purpose of manipulating people mind through social media.
India has many great leaders in the past who are more focused on development projects. We saw many good manifestoes in the past which are beneficial to the general public but current politicians are taking a different approach in gaining popularity. They think it is easy to mislead people through social media.
How do you consider posts shared in social media? Does social media have any influence over your decision making?

Electronic media has made it possible to quickly see what is going around. But it can not distinguish between the fake and the true. The gullible and biased people are easily mislead by the media.

It requires a deep knowledge and understanding of things before you can find that whether it is true or fake.

Media can mislead the people in very little time. Rumours also do that.

When I was in class VII one day there was a hue and cry in the city and immediately all the schools were closed and market was shutter down and in a 1-2 hours time the town looked deserted. In the evening we came to know that nothing happened but some goonda elements propagated some rumours that communal riots have started and many have already been killed.

So the rumour mongers and fake news makers in the internet media are capable of creating panic in the society. It is unfortunate that our governance is very poor to nab these culprits.

    Knowledge is power.

I feel it is so bad to adopt irrational tactics to achieve success in life. A true leader wouldn't do such things, instead, stick to his sincerity and integrity of an organisation or institution he works for. A great leader would only present the achievements honestly to woo support.

Spreading propaganda on social media has become an easy tool to target everyone and anyone. It has become a menace to spread rumor and a bundle of lies against opponents. Despite one's difference of opinion, we can behave responsibly without indulging in deceit and deception.

Filtering the information and getting the authentic one has become a difficult task with the flow of floods of social media posts. Getting authentic information has become an important thing today and we can't rely on fake news and rumors.

I hope such an attitude of misleading the general public through social media diminishes soon, and we a get better things to see.

I also believe that it is very easy to mislead the people especially the gullible ones and those who are idling.

So we should be cautious in filtering the information available in the media. Do not go to the sites which have a bad reputation of provoking people. Do not go to the channels having negative attitude. This way you can avoid a lot of negative and fake news.

    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

Social media has become a good way to spread fake news and undesired news. This may be due to the heavy traffic to these sites. These days we will find rarely a person without an account on Facebook and WhatsApp. Some people intentionally create fake news and forward and many innocent people simply forward those messages without knowing the correctness of the news. This has become a blessing in disguise to spread the good news about his party and bad news about other parties. There is a saying in Telugu which means even a lie also becomes true if many people say it as truth.
So it will have a good influence on the minds of the people. More than these social media post the electronic media is creating more confusion by telecasting many unproved rumours and taking the sides. All most all the parties have their own TV Channels where they will see that their party will get more time and give less importance to other parties. This will also have a very good influence on the people.

Usually, people at low-level use to follow low-level tactics to spread fake news among people but nowadays even some important leaders in many political parties are spreading fake information through their own social media profiles. They should be held responsible for posts shared through their social media profiles. We need to bring changes in the way social media work and need to put restrictions on the way leaders use their social media profile.
Whatever happens life should move on...
    Thanks Karthik
