Andhra Pradesh went to the polls for 175-member state Assembly as well as 25 Parliament seats on April 11. The model code will be in force until the announcement of the election results due on May 23.
The MCC manual says that the Chief Minister should not hold video conferences or reviews with officials during the period in which the code is applicable except on the after-effects of natural calamities of significant scale/magnitude.
However this time the period is more and it will be difficult for the government to stop taking important reviews regarding the implementation part of important projects. This is the argument and they may go to the Supreme Court also on this issue. Basically, the Election Commissioners acted in a biased way by appointing a person who is involved in cases as accused 10 in which one of the party president and aspirant candidate for the CM post as Chief Secretary just before elections. Why this action is taken which is illogical should be explained by the EC.
