Why thought process in our mind is changing?

Sometimes we want to take a firm decision on some matters. But the thought process in our mind is always wavering and insisting us to change our stand and position. That makes the decision-making process too difficult to decide and move. Nevertheless, we have to overcome any situation based on our past performance and experience. What is your view on the matter?

This is the first delivery of the one of the great all rounders of ISC after a long break. Of course, this is also my response to a forum post after a brief gap due to domestic reasons.

The answer to your query is very simple. We have to change with the time. The one who can tune to the existing situation can only face the real challenges and there won't be any logic to think of the past and stick on to the traditional way of allowing things to materialize. The one who takes a risk or quick in decision making can only move forward and at times, he may lose the race. Yet it is not the end of the road but gives us an experience 'how to be'and 'how not to be'. The little book 'Who moved my cheeze' the success story of an Ant will teach us how to move forward. But one thing I can say - if you have taken a decision, take it firmly. No issue. If you wanted to reverse it after a careful thought, it is also fine. Why to get confused? After all it's your choice!

Good response Patro. But we cannot control the thinking process which is on the wavering side due to constant input against the work we are attempting.

At the outset, let me welcome back Mohan, the all-time superstar of the forum section! Glad to see you back in action here.

Though there are certain decisions which are irreversible, we wouldn't qualify as human beings if we were to be so rigid as not to be able to give our decisions a second thought and change them if need be. Some decisions are taken as an immediate reaction and later if, after due thinking, we feel that we need to correct ourselves, we have to change our decision. It is quite human to do so. There is no point in sticking, or trying to stick, to a decision that was taken in haste once you realise the folly. There are decisions like leaving a job etc which you can't reverse but doing so where you can, does, in my opinion, make sense. Humans remain humans because we are flexible in our thought process.

Yes being flexible to our thoughts should be our move and motive. Thanks, Saji for giving feedback.

It depends on the time and the situation. It happens that sometimes we take a decision but then after reevaluating the things we change our decision. It's a very common thing as we human beings are very manipulative and easily manipulate things after seeing the person or the things against which we had taken the decision.

Decision making is always a difficult process mainly due to the wavering thoughts going in the background in our mind. As we are not sure of the outcome of our decision, it is natural that we will be apprehensive about it and will be wondering whether the outcome will be as expected or something contrary to that. In any case decisions are always time bound and we have to go for some alternative in time with calculated risks and have to be ready for surprises also. With new data and information coming in, the human mind will be always changing its calculated pros and cons about making a decision. So, thought process will be changing with time and those who have ability to cope up with changing times can only reap up the benefits of this.

Think twice before taking a decision but once the decision is taken don't think about that again and let us face the consequences whether good or bad, should be our policy. But many people think the same matter even after taking a decision. This will make the mind wavering. We will be thinking again and again. Once you think about the issue more and more no angles will come and new thoughts will come, This will make us more confused and we will be getting worried about the outcome. I have seen many people like this.
But it is human nature and we will be changing our mindset from time to time.

Decision making is difficult and sticking to it is yet more difficult. I think when we take any decisions we should consider the reasons on basis of which we choose one for another. And we should be sure about that. If in future we want to change it, that also needs solid reason. Mind is always wavering and won't allow us to be firm. To tackle this problem we should have proper reason for what we have done. It should be convincing and unless there is huge change in situation we shouldn't change it.

Decision making is a process and need time to come to the absolute one. There are times when we take decision out of anger, due to fight, due to misunderstanding, due to compulsion and sometimes for others sake. All the decisions has different secerio.
    - decision out of anger like in office, we stand our ground and more often cannot be reverted.
    - due to fight with colleagues or group, we try to be firm on our stand even though we know, we are wrong as it doesn't matter.
-due to misunderstanding between family & friends, we can always have a second thought, evaluate our decision and can be changed or compromised in order to maintain our healthy relationship.
    - due to compulsion that is for our parents, spouse or children sake, we have to make a decision and we go forward with it.
    - for others sake, sometimes it can be for their good, especially for the person whom we love and has to compromise for their betterment.

In all the above cases, our decision keep on changing from time to time, it is actually the work of the mind, assesing the problem, collecting all the data, evaluating it, finding alternative and at the end coming with the report same as the computer program.
