The happiest people on earth are down to earth

People who are down to earth are authentic. They see others for who they are. There is no judgment in their perspectives. Unlike others, they don't criticize or complain. They focus on good qualities and not on the negativity others are carrying inside them. They don't join the masses or try to be popular among them. For them, standing for the right is more important than voting for popular. They value life and are grateful to it. Thus, they believe in accepting things rather than expecting more.

What makes them down to earth is that they are free from the ego which is the main cause of jealousy, hate and discrimination. They look at things from a higher perspective. Humbleness is their main trait. When a person has so many wonderful qualities and has learnt to live and love life and be grateful to every second of it, how can he be devoid of happiness?

I agree with the author. A down to earth person will never be greedy or will never have too many desires. That will make him happy. If you want to show off and if you want to have all the pleasures on the earth available to you, you can't be a down to earth person. Even though you are in a big position if you see the difficulties of the people who are below you, you can be a down to earth person. Once you have an ego and once you think you are a big person, you can't be a down to earth person.
I studied Telugu at my school under a great teacher who was living a very simple life. He used to have very simple food, normal clothes and used to live in a single room. He spent his whole life alone. Every month he used to help many poor students and he never kept any bank reserves. He never used to talk bad about any individual. I have never seen any person with such a simple living. He is a good example for down to earth person.

Very few people have this trait of being down to earth. To be the same one need to have gone through difficulties or should be humble and simple. Now a days when we all are running behind power, money and fame, it is difficult to find such people. There are many still who live such a simple and happy life.

We all might have learned about our former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam who lived a content life and enjoyed and loved by all. Many poor people and even rich and people who have lived a difficult life earlier may have a heart which knows the pain and feel of humans. Such people may live a down to earth life and are always happy. They are the ones who live and enjoy life to the fullest.

That's the thing- we fail to appreciate the small things that actually make us happy. We always want more. We crave to achieve something big, so big that it would consume all happiness in the world for us to use. We fail to understand that luxuries aren't synonymous to happiness.

With the need to achieve more and the best things in life, competition increases. When someone wins the competition, he gains power. Power fuels ego and makes it inflammatory. Then people fly in the space between the sky and earth, thinking of themselves as superior to the common people and luring to fly even higher than the birds in the sky.

Instead of doing all that, if we accept what we have whole-heartedly, we would feel satisfied. There's no limit to desires. But we can choose to be satisfied. People who are down to earth are happy with what they have and work towards achieving what they want sans any desire to rule the world but to live peacefully in it.

Make love to life before it divorces you.

I completely agree with the author. There is nothing like simplicity. It is the real grace and poise in our life. Many people are ruined in the race of fashion, show biz and such modern complexities but simple people always remain calm and happy.

Simplicity is a great virtue. Many people have it and then they also enjoy it thoroughly. It is something which is of perpetual value. It shows the strength and determination of a person that he is not lured by the worldly things as the lesser mortals are. Many great scientists, scholars and genius people were so simple that if people were not told about them they might not be recognised on first glimpse. Simplicity does not require praise from others. It is its own reward. It makes a person complete and places him at a higher level than the other normal people of the society.
    Knowledge is power.

I have seen personally that those who are simple and silent are the happiest persons in the world because their down to earth behaviour and moves baffles all and would like to continue friendship with then. And those who are rich from their childhood never show their attitude about their rich background. On the other hand those who have acquired wealth and happiness in recent past would show off their attitude much to the annoy of all. And when you are simple and down to earth, many would come calling to seek your best suggestion or tips for them. But again maintaining good behaviour even in that situation is appreciable.

I agree with the author that one who has these qualities mentioned he will be a down to earth person but rarely do people have such qualities these days. People are full of ego these days. They don't have love or compassion for others but they always have a sort of jealousy towards others. Even the siblings too have a feeling of jealousy these days. They don't have patience and don't let any opportunity to let others down for anything.
