June 1- Global Day of Parents- Prostate before parents as they are God personified

June 1 is observed as Global Day of Parents by UN.
Indian tradition teaches us to respect mother& father, teacher and God. The significance here is the order of respect First mother and father, then teacher or Guru and God comes next only.

We are part of our parents. The genes in us have come from them. We cannot see us totally different or independent from them. We owe our birth and existence to them. Indian traditional wisdom tells us that we owe certain debts to our parents and ancestors. So we are indebted to them.

Let us prostrate before our parents today without any shame but with all sincerity. If they are not physically present, let us prostrate to their photos and memory inside us.

True. Mother and Father are Gods visible to us. If parents are not there means we are not there. We are here because of them only and we owe a lot to them. We will have 9 months extra association with our mother starting from the time we are in her. She carried us for nine months and she faced many problems in bringing us on to this earth. Whatever we do to them, we can't completely pay back the debt we have to pay them. So we should hold their hand and see that they will be happy during their old age. It is not that we can so our affection towards them by spending money for them. That is not what they want from us. We have to hold their hand and make them walk when a need arises. Your personal attention towards them will be the most wanted help than paying money. These days many children are admitting their parents into old age homes. That should not happen. We should be with them in their old age,
If we respect our parents and prostrate before them, it will give us immense happiness to them. A child who is not having kindness on the old age parents can't be considered as a human being. He is also like any other animal which doesn't have any brains.

"Mathaa Pithaa Guru Deivam. Avar Malaradi thinamthinam vananguthal seivom"(Mother, Father, Teacher, God... Let us worship their feet regularly every day) Here, it is not the order in which we should respect. In this phrase, it says that Mother, Father and Teacher are the God. Deivam(God) placed at last, is not the last person to worship. This is what I interpret.

Even in Thirukkural of Tamil, Thiruvalluvar says in his first Kural - "Agara Muthala Ezhuthellam Aathi Bhagavan Mutharre Ulagu." In this, Mr Thiruvalluvar has indirectly hinted his parents as Gods. Generally, Aadhi Bhagavan is interpreted as the First God. Whereas, Aadhi is the name of Thiruvalluvar's mother, and Bhagavan is his father's name. For a person, the world starts from his/her parents. Many don't know the hidden fact. Because no one knows the names of parents of Thiruvalluvar, except very few.

When Lord Ganapathy was told to come around the world to take the divine Mango from Siva, Ganapathy was blinking. Naradha through his body language informed Ganapathy that his parents are the world. Ganapathy circled around Siva and Parvathy and go the fruit.

Mother and Father who created us are the first living Gods. It is our duty to respect and care for them.

We are all indebted to the parents every day and by prostrating on the occasion of global parents day, we cannot single out one day importance to the parents. Each child know the importance of the parents when he is forced to live alone in another state or country. Parents are those who look after the child from morning till he retires to the bed and the some parents forgo their sleep and welfare for the goodness of the child. The sacrifice of good is also made some times the parents has to hurry to attend the child need. So every child need to bow to the ever increasing love and affection served by parents.

As the world celebrates Global Day of Parents on June 1 every year, let us thank the Lord our God for giving us such loving parents. As per the Bible, Ephesians 6:1-3, the first commandment out of the 10 is "Honor your father and mother". It is also the first commandment with a promise. It even tells the children, "Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do and If you honor your father and mother, 'Things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth.

Some of the other verses from the bible that asks children to honor their parents are given below:
    - Proverbs chapter 1, verses 8-9, it mentions "Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck."
    - Proverbs chapter 23, verses23 has mentioned, "Listen to your father who gave you life and do not despise your mother when she is old.
    - Exodus Chapter 21 verses 17 highlights, "Whoever curses his father or his mother shall be put to death."
    - Proverbs chapter 30 verses 17 pinpoints, "The eye that mocks a father and scorns to obey a mother will be picked out by the ravens of the valley and eaten by the vultures."

WE need to thank our parents for they are the one who gave us life and brought us into this world and helped us to be what we are today. Every parent want the best for their children but it is true that when we were young, we would argue and fight with them but when we become a parent, we understand the things that they said and did. Let us not waste more time and humble ourselves in front of our parents and be a better children to them.

“The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let it come in." — Morrie Schwartz
