6.3 lakhs SSC students and failed students of Intermediate were promoted by AP government

AP government took decision to promote 6.3 lakhs SSC students without conducting exams. Recently Board of Intermediate released results of Intermediate students where 60% got passed. As the Corona cases increasing, there is no hope for conducting supplementary exams for failed candidates, the board declared that all the failed candidates are also passed. So this year everone who studied SSC and Intermediate got passed. Now there is lot of demand for seats in colleges for higher education. ICSE board gave two options for 10 th and plus two students, if possible students can appear for exams conducting in july or otherwise internal assignment marks will be taken for promotion criteria. If the Corona fever is over soon, the private college institutes prosper like anything. What other changes occur in educational field due to Corona pandemic we have to wait and see.

This is an unusual situation and has to be dealt in unconventional ways only. The students who have failed would remain like that also during the next year also because if schools do not open they would be forced to go through same ordeal as it is unlikely that they would show any interest in the online classes. So by declaring them pass in 10+2, they would now join BA or B.Sc. online and try to compete their graduation. So, they are only benefited to the extent of saving one year in their educational career otherwise from job point of view a just pass student is as good as nothing because today scores of toppers are so high that pass means nothing in this competitive world except an opportunity to join the next class.

In Telangana also there is a chance all graduates will also be promoted based on their performances in half early and quarterly examinations.
I think to promote all SSC students and Intermediate students is not a wise decision. Now entrance tests also can't be conducted for admissions to BE/BTech and other courses. Then what will be the basis for the management to decide on the allotment of seat and money will start playing an important role. This is again a bad game. The really deserving cases may not be able to meet the expenses so they may have to step back.

These people will not get jobs and opposition will say unemployment problem increased. Many repercussions. Saving one year is not a real issue. But after getting qualified what is that they are gaining is more important. They might have delayed the examination and they might have changed the academic year to January to December.

Anyhow the government decision will be welcomed by many people and all will get promoted certificates which they think is their achievement. After effects will be known afterwards only.

This is very absurd decision from the AP govt as it has to follow the popular demand from the students as Telangana already made the SSC students pass without writing the exam and now the AP also took the same decision. But failed Intermediate students getting passed is something not understood, because the intermediate studies are the foundation course to the future studies and therefore any missing or non understanding of the subject would have led to the failure of the candidates and the govt took huge decision of passing them which may draw ire from the really enthusiastic merit candidates who toiled to score.
