Indian government started very late investing in this field. In this year beginning only government announced it plans to invest ?8,000 crores in this area of research in the coming five years. Last year, the Department of Science & Technology (DST), set up an Institute called Quantum-Enabled Science & Technology (QuEST) in Hyderabad, I understand.
Other countries started investing in this area long back and they are much ahead in this field. To progress in the quantum computing field, India will look to partners who are having advanced knowledge in this field like IBM and Google. IBM India is way ahead in this field and it is in the field of building universal quantum computers for business, engineering and science.
