Mumbai Indians key player Lasith Malinga to miss IPL 2020, James Pattinson named as replacement

IPLs leading wicket taker Lasith Malinga of Mumbai Indians will not be available for the upcoming season of IPL 2020 in UAE due to his personal reasons.

Mumbai Indians announced Australian pacer James Pattinson as the replacement for Malinga. Mr. Akash Ambani, owner of Mumbai Indians told that Pattinson will be the right replacement for Malinga and he will definitely add more options to the MI bowling attack.

Mumbai Indians will definitely miss Malinga as he was the one who defended 9 runs in the last over of the IPL 2019 final against CSK last year and helped MI to win the title by defeating CSK in just one run.

Mumbai Indians have suffered a major setback before the start of IPL season-13. MI's most experienced and match-winning bowler Lasith Malinga is out of the upcoming IPL 2020. Lasith Malinga has withdrawn his name from this IPL season due to personal reasons. In such a situation, the troubles of the defending Mumbai Indians can definitely increase. However, the team of Mumbai has included this Australia fast bowler in the team in place of Malinga.
Lasith Malinga is one of the players of Mumbai Indians, whose team was retained in every IPL auction. In such a situation, when Lasith Malinga will not be part of the Mumbai team this season, the team may face problems in the bowling order. However, Mumbai already have fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult. But remember the last IPL season, Malinga had won the Mumbai Indians in the last over on his own.

Malinga is a good player and an asset to any team in which is included. Last year in Mumbai Indian's win his contribution is very valuable and he deserves all the appreciations. So the same player is again included but he expressed his inability to attend. Definitely, it is a big loss for MI.
Pattinson is also a good player. He is also able to win the matches for his teams. His 5-96 haul against India in Chennai is very impressive. I hope he will do a good job and see that MI will not feel the absence of Malinga and recognise the efforts of Pattinson.

This is another post related to IPL and I would advise and suggest to all concerned that it would be better if we limit our posts about a particular subject otherwise there will be a deluge of posts on IPL itself masking the other routine ones. Then there is always a threat of getting them locked by the editors/moderators in the site.

Coming to the topic of the thread, Malinga's absence would be much felt in the Mumbai Indians team though the team managers are assuring that they have got a good replacement. Name of Malinga is attached to the sentiments of the Mumbai Indians fans and to that extent the team would lose the emotional support of these fans. Let us see how the new incumbent performs.
