The day of 2 October is very special because on this day, along with the birthday of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri is also celebrated on 2 October. On the one hand, our Nation Father Mahatma Gandhi has given us great ideas like satyagraha and non-violence which is important for our life and on the other hand, the impressive personality of Honorable Lal Bahadur Shastri can be gauged from the fact that his ideas and fearlessness was appreciated, the identity of Lal Bahadur Shastri was due to his simple life and high views. Lal Bahadur Shastri, who gave the slogan of 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan', devoted his entire life to the service of the poor.

On this day, I stand erect and salute the great leaders of India Mr. Mohandas Karam Chand Gandhi who is known as the Father of our nation, got the freedom for India through Ahimsa. Mr. Lal Bahadur Sastri who is short by height, but the tallest man in politics who was our Prime Minister. A great man who short-lived.

This is also time to remember a Gandhian follower Late Mr. K Kamaraj, Former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu who was known as King Maker. He is for simplicity, generosity, and efficient administration. He died on 2nd October 1975.

What Gandhiji did was unprecedented and unique as he achieved something which many great kings could not even with their huge armies and resources. He is known worldwide for his non violence ways of winning with the enemies. The political leaders of that time admired and considered him as their leader in true sense and did everything after taking his consent. Strangely Gandhiji had no interest in power and position as he had some other plans for his engagement for the development and improvement in the living conditions of the poor and downtrodden. His approach to problems was totally different than other prominent people of that time. Lal Bahadur Shastri was a strong man and gave a clear message to the world powers that India is not afraid of any offending power. K. Kamraj was a great statesman and administrator.

I salute to all these great personalities of the past and today we remember them with great respect and honour.

    Knowledge is power.

October 2nd is always remembered by every Indian because on this day our father of the nation, the most simplest person of the earth was born and he was responsible to mobilize people against the British over handedness and paved a clear way for country's firm independence. On this day we are highly indebted to pay our homage and tribute to the great soul of India Mahatma Gandhi without his sacrifice we would be been slaves in the hands of British empire. And who can forget Lal Bahadur Shastri on this same day who has coined the Jai Jawan Jai Kisan and India is really great to have the bright son like him. Shastri was simple and yet led a quality life as the politician as for him moral responsibility is more than the power politics. India has been the land of great personalities like the above two.

The important common quality between these two leaders is their simplicity. Both of them lived a very simple life and never thought of their self. They always thought that Nation is more important than any other issue in this world. The present days we require many Gandhis and Many Satrys to save this country. We should look for the rebirth of them so that we will have good leaders to guide us.
Gandhiji fought for independence and advocated non-violence always. With his peaceful struggle. he has seen that Britishers will be away from the country and able to get the freedom to the country.
Lal Bahadur is the person who believed that soldiers and farmers are the important persons in the country and the only coined the slogan Jai Javan and Jai Kissan. If he continued as PM for full-term who might have seen a different India. We are unfortunate to lose him very early.
I salute both these great personalities on the occasion of their birthday. I pray God to see that Gandhi and Sastrywill again born in this country and save the nation from the corrupt politicians.
