A superb advertisement that has been wrongly interpretedThe Tata group company recently released a superb advertisement on communal harmony. A Muslim girl weds a Hindu boy. The girl is pregnant and the mother-in-law affectionately hugs her and proudly talks about the pleasure in getting the bangle function that is widely done in all Hindu communities.
Not a single sensible human being will find fault with this fabulous advertisement, that goes far beyond a mere advertisement. However, sections of the ruling dispensation, as expected have raised their voice and have even threatened the Manager of an outlet in Gujarat.
The Tata group has now withdrawn the advertisement. However, the damage done to secular values and to communal harmony will remain. I do hope Members will raise their voice against this atrocity that cuts at the very base of communal harmony and affection that extends beyond religion. There is no "love jihad" at all.
