I pay my tribute to the great scholar Maulana Abul Kalam Azad on his birth anniversary. The role played by him to strengthen the education system in the country helped us to progress and still, there are many things left to be done. While education should reach every corner, it is also to be seen that there is all-round development. Education should not mean to develop only the skillsets of the students, it must help to build the character also. Education is for all and should not be limited to a specific group. The governments are doing a lot to promote education and establishing various institutes but they must pay enough attention so that teaching remains a noble profession. Nowadays, many teachers think of teaching just like any other profession and completely forget their responsibility towards society. On National Education Day we should pledge to develop good teachers. Along with their academic qualification, equal importance should be given to other aspects so that they can become an example to the students. Efficient teachers will help in the overall growth of the individual whereas only an expert in a particular trade can help one to be an expert in a particular field/trade. The quality of a person is very important and teachers play a great role here.

According to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, schools are laboratories where future citizens of the country develop. He is credited with establishing IITs and various other institutions in India. On the occasion of Education Day, India remembers the work done by Abul Kalam Kalam in the field of education. Maulana Abul Kalam believed that schools are pro-labs where prospective citizens are produced. On this day, various programs are organized to spread awareness about education and make every person literate. Maulana Azad was the president of the Indian National Congress at the age of 35. He also wrote poems in Urdu. People also know him as a warrior of the pen. He established higher educational institutions and also worked for free education in the country.

This year, the theme of National Education Day 2020 is 'Skill Awareness and Empowerment'. The purpose of keeping this theme is only to develop skill development in people.
