No more takers for Engineering and Pharma streams

The last leg of TS EAMCET counseling for the seat allotments were made leaving 23,000 seats vacant for both Engineering and Pharma streams and that proves there is a shifting in the thought process of parents and students and opting for other courses which given them instant access to jobs. Then what is the use of so many new Engineering colleges given permission every year and they go dry without single student. The education has become business but for parents they have to think twice before choosing any stream as it concerned to career of their child.

I think no more new engineering colleges are required. The existing colleges are also getting closed as there are no students. Only good colleges are surviving. Many of the first generation private engineering colleges have become universities or deemed universities. Parents are not interested in getting their children admitted to the colleges where there are no placement opportunities. That is why many seats are vacant and those colleges will get closed. Another problem is fees reimbursement. The State government is delaying paying this amount to thee colleges and hence they are not able to survive.
IT industries started taking B.Sc graduates also instead of BE/BTech students only in all the positions. That is making some parents join their children to B.Sc course. These days many specialised diploma courses are also being offered to the students which will make them skilled in some areas and students are showing interest in their courses also.

It is a sad situation that we do not have jobs for the engineering and pharma students once they complete their degree. Now more people are moving to commerce, finance, and accounts side as there is still a demand of these people.

Actually the demand and the supply is not properly matched and hence this failed situation.

It's not good because these days we have lots of engineering colleges in the country unlike past when we used to have very few colleges and there was a tough competition among the aspirants.

I have been passed out from a private engineering college and I know how much they lag in terms of infrastructure and facilities compared to the government engineering college. It's of no use if we do engineering from such college.
