Cyclone Nivar is likely to cross Tamilnadu coast today evening. The IMD has alerted that the cyclone would cross coast with a wind speed of 120 - 135 Kmph. It would cause heavy rain and heavy damage to the standing crops, falling of trees and poles.

Tamilnadu government has declared holiday today. Bus/train/ Air services have been suspended. All have been alerted, and the rescue team is standby and ready to meet any eventualities.

Let us pray God for the Nivar to be cool and cross the coast without any damage to the public and the properties.

Such natural calamities bring instability in action human life. However, in order to deal with these disasters, the Central Disaster Management Control Room is being run by the State Disaster Management Control Room to provide help to the public by the government and institutions, etc. People have been evacuated from low-lying areas. They will be provided with food, water, hand sanitizer, and face masks. Fishermen have been advised not to go to sea. In many parts of Tamil Nadu, strong rains have started before the storm. All flights to Chennai have been canceled. A total of 22 teams have already been deployed in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Puducherry, and eight have been kept ready. Efforts are being made to minimize the loss due to the storm, our prayer to God is to protect everyone.

We are witnessing natural calamities almost every year. The year 2020 is very testing. COVID19, Bihar floods and now CYclone in SOuth India. Chennai is going to get affected very badly with this cyclone. Damage may be very high. The governments will be taking all the precautions and trying to minimise the damage. The government is advising people not to go out and stay at houses only.
The loss may be very high and the sufferings of the people may get increased. Already there are many financial problems. With this cyclone, they may increase. So all should take care and get protected.

I heard about this news that cyclone 'Nivar' is about to come. Govt has already taken all safety measure to control this disaster. All flights going to Chennai have been cancelled. People are said to stay at home. A fisherman has been alerted not to venture in the sea. A large number of people have been evacuated from the low lying area to damage may minimum. NDRF team has been deployed in Tamilnadu so that property damage should less. This year has been painful for all of us. We need to have the patience for some more time.

It is good to know that the government takes needy arrangements to meet the disaster. But our people do not realise their responsibility and the people drove vehicles without any reason and thereby roadside water flows into many houses. Many people spit on the rain water flowing on the road. Dumping garbage, water bottles, emptied juice packets on the road so as to block the flowing water which results floodwater flows into houses.

Many years back, there was a very severe Tsunami in Tamil Nadu in which much devastation took place. Then few years back severe cyclone was there. Every time loss of property and damage is reported. But now the predictions are forecasting are better and also people are moved to safer places with good planning and let us hope that all the arrangements done for the safety of the people will give good results.

Now the cyclonic storm would cross the coast midnight 25/26, or early morning/morning on 26th Nov when all would be sleeping tight. TN Government has declared holiday tomorrow. The Chembarambakkam lake has reached its storage level and water is being released to reduce damage due to flood. During the last Gaja cyclone in TN, the lake water played a crucial role in Chennai causing vast destruction to the properties. Hope that won't be repeated now.

Why nature is so cruel for those who reside in the coastal areas and Tamil Nadu has been battered with cyclone during November and December and we know in previous years the worst flood of Chennai and the Tsunami that battered the state and many lives were gone. This new cyclone also seems to be bigger one with heavy winds and has the capacity to uproot big installations, advertisements boards, polls and trees and the state should see that no one should rest in such areas where the cyclone effect would be more and thus the rescue teams which are ready to shift the people from low lying areas must be ever alert. One thing is sure every year this kind of cyclone is affected the state, and the compensation sought is more but the state is given the pittance. Let the help be great because it is the national calamity to which the center should foot the bill.

Every year natural calamities are witnessed at various places. Tamilnadu has many such situations. Why the state government is not taking measures to overcome such devastation? People, resources are going to be ransacked but the sufferings goes futile. Monetary relief benefits can only support for a short period but people have to face it again and again.

We can't stop the nature's action. And we cannot change the people. Cyclone, rain and flood is not a daily affair. It is a seasonal affair. Everyone knows that the Northeast monsoon would bring rain to the state with cyclone and heavy showers. At times it is minor with no destruction and at times it is major with destruction to people and property. It is the duty of the people to be prepared to face the natures fury. More than the government, people should think of moving to safe locations. Thank God, we have the facility to monitor and warn the public about the natures action in advance. I would appreciate the government (IMD) for this.

Let us wait and watch the scenery tomorrow. I am in Bengaluru and can feel the effect of the Niwar cyclone. It is very chill. It might rain heavily tomorrow.

Just now came across the news that the land fall of the cyclone has happened near Puduchery and thus heavy rains with wind of 130 kmph is blowing in the places of Puduchery and Cuddalore and as a result the entire Tamil Nadu would be battered with heavy rains. The central and state rescue teams are ready to tackle any eventualities and the people are advised not to venture out. Since the strong winds can uproot the trees, advertisement boards and current poles, it is better people should stay put inside the home and avoid going out. Our thoughts are with the people of Tamil Nadu.

As per the news it appears that the cyclone is weakening and though there will be storms and heavy rainfall but the expected fear is now lessened and I think it is a relief if it is so and it is good if it weakens further or does not impact so much as expected.

My relatives are in Cuddalore and just now I spoke to them as there is heavy rains, and no power and thus they could not recharge their cell phones all through the day. Trees are uprooted and the poles fall apart,

Chennai is also got affected very severely. Heavy wind and many trees got uprooted. There are some calamities also. I spoke to my brother who stays there. Now there is some reduction. But heavy loss to the entire Tamilnadu. I heard that Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh also got affected very badly.

Nature is very furious and showing its power on all of us. All should be careful and never abuse nature. Otherwise, it will teach us many more lessons.

Sun could not be sighted today. In Bengaluru the weather is very chill and pleasant with light showers and drizzle. The real damage to Tamilnadu is not known. There may not be any loss of life, but there would be loss of property due to high speed wind and down pour.

Since early morning yesterday the chill weather in Hyderabad proved that the effects of the Nivar cyclone is being felt across the South and today morning while writing this post the drizzling is happening and that increased the chillness of the weather to further extent and thus leading to onset of severe winter for Hyderabad. Every year the winter escalates with one shower of rain and that is happening now and therefore we are also feeling the brunt of extreme cyclone being experienced by TN and other states.

Sitting in Bengaluru, I am experiencing the real effect of cyclone Nivar. The sun is not out since 26th November. It is very chill that I am wearing a sweater and wrapped with a blanket 24 hrs. The same weather is likely to continue till Sunday.

Cyclone Nivar did not cause damage to lives except three, but brought in heavy rain to Tamilnadu and other places in AP and Karnataka.
