Touchwood, there is no repeat of 2015 here in Chennai!!
2015 December. The history of Chennai will never ever fail to record the massive rain, made worse by the unplanned opening of the Chemberambakkam Lake by the then imperious Jayalalitha Government. People went hungry for even four days, after having lost everything in the floods. The intensity was so severe that the rains totally rose above the first floor of most gated communities in all low lying areas.26th Nov2020. The Niver cyclone has not been as the one in 2020. It has drained Chennai inany places. However, when the winds are down in the next couple of hours and the rains stop by noon, the water will start receding. Some efforts are already on to pump out rain water in many places. In areas where there are wells, it may become easy to just pour such water into the wells. Chennai has escaped. The Covid crisis is also not so severe. The infections are less than 500 every day. The State itself is slowly coming back to normal. Chennai is the nerve centre of most developments, anyway.
