Be an honest opportunist

To get success in life, we must grab every opportunity that comes in our way. But many people find an opportunist person as bad and selfish because they are supposed to get success in any situation by any mean and at any cost. But opportunists are not as bad as people think, because if anyone does not seize the opportunity, someone else will do that. Opportunist improve themselves with every opportunity, even if they missed it. Opportunists are creative and optimistic as well.

Crow is an intelligent and essentially opportunist bird. To survive and thrive, it is omnivorous and can feed on any kind of food material, whether small insects, earthworms, seeds or grains, etc. Similarly, Myna is also an opportunist and smart bird.

In the image, the crow is showing its opportunistic and dominant behaviour and grabbing grains lying down. And Myna also looks optimistic and wandering beside the crow and she is still waiting for that she might get some food for her too.

The opportunistic behaviour for birds is necessary, as if they do not follow it, they will not survive.
Hence, being an opportunist is not always bad. Anyone can prove his/her intelligence and improved performance by taking advantage of the opportunities in different circumstances, which also leads to innovation. So, be an opportunist to live a fruitful life.

What I feel that the opportunities comes to us so sudden and not informed before hand and in that case there cannot be honest opportunities because others miss is our gain always. While allotting seats during the MBBS counseling sessions the same thing happened. When the candidate who was supposed to get the seat under the specified quota has failed to submit the required credentials to the scrutinizing committee, the next candidate with all required papers gets the chance. Here in this case the opportunity was never expected but came so suddenly and many attribute to such happenings to luck factor. Nevertheless the life is full of surprises and misses and therefore we should not fume at the loss of opportunities rather we must feel relaxed that something better than the lost chance is going to happen and get ready for that.

Waiting for an opportunity and grabbing when a chance comes can't be treated as a bad trait.
But when we require help from somebody praising them and getting the work done and afterwards ignoring them is a bad trait. Such people will also be called opportunists. At the same time deceiving others and using that opportunity for our gain is also not good.
If Myna is looking for an opportunity and waiting, it is good. But crow should not take the opportunity and should not stop Myna from taking some food from the available food there.

It is a natural tendency of the people to take advantage of the opportunities in their lives as it is said that opportunities never knock at the door twice. But the main thing is we should not avail it by harming other persons.

We all sometimes use this sentence in our life that 'we did not get the opportunity at that time or else...' Saying that we do not get the opportunity is like making a blank excuse. Many times people are sitting waiting for a big occasion or right opportunity and nothing happens to them. Don't always wait for an opportunity or a big break. The opportunity will always come out in front of you, you just have to recognize it and show your ability. The opportunity is not small or big, so do not sit empty waiting for a big opportunity. Every opportunity brings something to you. Take advantage of it. By misleading opportunity, you run from it and this is a wrong process. You have to create the opportunity yourself because everything is in your hands and control. God has sent you fully capable, so go ahead and seize the opportunity. Knowledge of the art of being opportunistic is essential for survival in life.

The author has taken 'opportunist' in a positive way. Generally, it's negative connotation. An opportunist is the person who does not care about morality or responsibility or duty but he changes himself according to situations where he find his benefits. His attitude and move is unexpected. Invairaibley, it's applied to politicians who change their party or partner in alliance and forget their promises and gains power at any cost.
But the author has applied it to healthy opportunism.

Honesty is the best policy and it is great quality and virtue to be an honest person. To control the temptations of opportunity especially the opportunities which force us to go in a corrupt and wrong direction is very dangerous as one falls in its trap and the people who have masterminded that would blackmail the person. The goons and mafias work with that style only and the enthusiastic people fall in their trap in drug rackets or hawala business and then remain in that trap for life long as there is no escape out. So opportunities are to be availed in a good way only. Any opportunity which has a bad side or mala-fide intentions should not be taken up as that would destroy us totally.

Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
