    Are men are less emotional?

There is a saying in Telugu, 'Nave adadani adciche Magovadini namakudadu". This means we must not believe women who laugh and men who cry. We often see that men hardly break down in tears. Is there any scientific reason behind this? The research studies say that men cry less than women because of reasons linked to both nature and nurture. Men have significantly lower levels of prolactin (a hormone found in emotional tears) compared with women. So, the physiological explanation is hormone related. Are men are less emotional and how are they able to hold back their tears? Please share your thoughts!

A researcher in Holland, Professor Ad Vingerhoets did some research on this subject. In his study, he found that women cry between 30 and 64 times a year whereas males will cry only for 6 to 17 times a year.
It was revealed by another researcher that prolactin is a hormone which is the cause for emotional tears. This hormone level will be less in men when compared to that of women.
There may be many other reasons for this. But basically when a Gent cries people start judging the reasons for his break down. But when a female did it they take it as a routine issue.
Another reason is those earlier days, men used to spend more time outside and they may be trying to control their emotions as the surrounding people will be watching them. But females were spending more time inside the house and so they might not try for controlling the emotions. But these days all are equally going out so they may also be controlling their emotions.

It is said that men are from Mars and women are from Venus. It may be a literary thing to say so but it has some deeper meaning there. Traditionally, culturally, and genetically women are supposed be more caring, affectionate, and sentimental to others as compared to the men and it is very evident from their behaviour and mannerism. If we see the historical perspective in this matter then we will find that during the ages women were taking care of household things and children and did their jobs within the four walls and were dependent on the male members as regards the money or material is considered. So women were in general patient and waiting for things as they were not earning by themselves and were dependent on others for almost everything in their lives. That could be reason for their sensitiveness.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.
