India is going to start vaccination program soon

As per the news available in the media the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) has cleared two vaccines for use in India. This approval is based on the recommendations of the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standards Control Organisation (CDSCO). The approval is in the nature of restricted emergency approval. The Govt has already envisaged a scheme for registering online for vaccination.

The first vaccine is Oxford Unversity - AstraZeneca which is being manufactured by Serum Institute of India. The second one is locally developed vaccine by Bharat Biotech International ltd. It is hoped that with the beginning of this vaccination program India will able to fight with the corona threat in a better way and soon will be able to contain it nicely.

We think so. Yesterday also I tried COWIN app to download. But still, it is not available for getting the registration done. Once it is ready the official App will be available and we have to download it and book a slot for the Vaccine. It may take another 3 or 4 days for the App to get ready and released for the use of the public. Most probably the senior citizens can get a chance in the month of March 2021. The central government in consultation with the State governments may finalise the system and start administering the Vaccine in another 10 to 15 days.

Managing and executing such a big vaccination program in our country is definitely a very big task and let us hope that we also get this vaccine in the minimum time as there are good efforts by the Govt in this direction.

It is good to see that eventually, the vaccine to curb coronavirus is about to be available in India too. But Subramaniyam Swami has raised a question why a foreign vaccine is being given priority to Indian vaccine. According to him, the foreign vaccine was tested on 1200 patients only, whereas Indian Biotech conducted its experiment on 13000 patients.

Anyways, I hope that this vaccine will be available free of cost for all Indians, however, it is not clarified yet if the government will decide to avail it for all without taking any charges. As a report, this vaccine cost 1000/ - rupees per person. It will be a big burden for common people. How they can afford this expensive vaccine is a big question for the people. The government should ponder over this matter for them.

That's a good news that vaccine to fight with corona virus is introduced and will be available for the people in the country. Yes to distribute it in the market for the people will definitely be a big task. And to make it easy government has decided some guidelines like it will be offered to the people over the age of 60 years and son on. So that will ease to distribute the vaccine and hope so in few months our country will be free of corona virus.

I would like to alert members about Covishield vaccine in case you are unaware - people with allergies to any type of medication, food products, a vaccine taken earlier or any of the ingredients that are in the Covidhield vaccine should be careful and inform the healthcare provider.

Please read the FAQs of the Serum Institute of India: https://www.rediff.com/news/report/heres-all-you-need-to-know-about-covishield/20210113.htm

As per what is mentioned in the above report, the institute has also provided an emergency contact number and email ID for queries related to any adverse effects from the vaccine.

It is a welcome move at the present juncture when the entire country is in the grip of fearness of infection of the COVID infection. The scheme would benifit the seniors and the medical health workers at the first stage and later this will be extended to the rest mass. It is being seen that in some quarters there is some apprehension of the side effects of the newly introduced vaccine and to wipe out such fears, the government should make every effort to enhance the confidence of the consumers so that during the process of administration, all eligible for it would join without having any complexities. There has not been display of its price mechanism of this vial. The details need to be displayed.
