Why Cricket has reached the height and other sports are not ? Let us discuss

Most of us love only cricket and ignore other sports. Cricket has gained popularity and is considered as a rich game. The cricket players earn a heavy sum while other players earn a meager sum only. Many companies sponsor cricket and never bother to sponsor other sports. People are not interested to watch Football, Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Kabaddi, and other sports.

Why? Why? Why? Let us discuss.

Since the beginning cricket has been not only liked by young people but also propgated by media as well. Other sports are also great and talent is scattered around the country but most of the young blood is running after cricket to seek their career in this particular game, reason is the money which these selected cricket players get and are sponsored greatly. It's the responsibility of the ministry of sports to encourage other games and sports also.
If other sports are encouraged and propagated certainly aspiring people will take interest in other sports also.

The main reason for cricket reaching the highest position is the liking of the game by many young people. Cricket was not very famous in the 1970s and hockey was at its peak. Those days many players are trying to play for the national hockey team. Even we won medals in Olympic Games those years. But the Indian government has not encouraged that game as there were no viewers. Slowly cricket picked up. BCCI has become very rich and national tournaments for the game like Ranji trophy were initiated which generated a lot of interest among the people about this game.

When we were in our school we had some syllabus in our English course like 'The wizard of the hockey - Dhyan Chand'. So, that time India was on the top in hockey and it was a popular game in India. That time hockey and football were the main games. Slowly the fad of cricket started and it also gained popularity. The real popularity came from the commentary which was relayed in radio transmission. Then came the era of advertisement and sponsorship as the TV channel viewership or TRP became a matter of importance. After that there was a phenomenal rise in the popularity of cricket and rest is the history only.
    Knowledge is power.

I remember that during our college time we were listening to the cricket commentary and whenever there was a four or six by our batsman we used to make a loud sound and applaud it. So craze was already there at that time. Later due to enormous commercialisation and sponsorship by the big companies and even multinational companies the craze increased tremendously.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

We as a child love to play cricket. It can be played anywhere just need small space to enjoy the cricket with friends. Gully cricket is the good example of it. Cricket is more popular in India as compared to other nations. Our elders also love to play this game.
