Hundred years to our National flag- remembering Pingali Venkayya

Our tricolour National flag after its recognition in 1921 as a national flag by Indian National Congress Committee at the Bezawada meeting has crossed 100 years of its existence. The creator of this flag is Pingali Venkayya, a great freedom fighter and a great follower of Mahatma Gandhiji. He designed 30 models of flags and out of which Gandhiji was attracted to the present model of the National flag. Pingali Venkayya used Green and Orange colours in his model of the flag. But Gandhiji made little modifications to this model by adding white colour in between the other two colours.

Pingali Venkayya was born in Machilipatnam of AP and by profession, he was a Lecturer in the National College of Machilipatnam. On surpassing 100 years of its existence, AP CM today visited the residence of family members of Pingali Venkayya in Macherla of AP and honoured the daughter of Pingali Venkayya. The Central government might also have done something special on this occasion.

We are proud that Pingali Venkayya was from Andhra Pradesh. On this remarkable day, we should pay our respects to this great man. It is good that his daughter of this predator was honoured by the CM of AP on the occasion.

True, it is a matter of great pride and it is very special for all Indians. These days, there is a growing demand in social media that the honorable Pingali Venkayya, the great person who has given us this form of our national flag, should be awarded the Bharat Ratna. His name was recommended for the Bharat Ratna by the Andhra Pradesh government in 2014. For any country, its flag is for its pride and respect for the country. Our feelings towards the national flag and the national anthem of the country automatically arise, many times, even in a movie, if we see the country's tricolor flag-waving, then our hidden patriotism wakes up.

It is the matter of great honor and pride that Pingali Venkayya was born in AP and designed our National flag and it is now 100 years old today. Our national flag is the best designed as it portrays the interest of Hindus, minorities, and it also testifies that India stands for peace among all the states put together. Who ever see our national flag they raise for the occasion to pay the respect. In fact now a days the national flag is given more pride as in important places and junctions the tall flag greets us from the long and we do remember the sacrifice of martyrs in the quest for freedom on seeing the national flag.
