CBSE board exams for Class 10 are cancelled and for class 12 are postponed

Today, the central government has announced the cancellation of CBSE board exams for Class 10 and postponement of exams for Class 12 which were scheduled to be held from May 4th to June 14th, 2021, in the wake of the coronavirus crisis in the country. The situation will be reviewed on 1st June 2021 by the CBSE board and the revised date will be informed by giving at least 15 days time.

It is also mentioned in the news that for Class 10, the students will be promoted based on internal assessment as per the criterion to be decided by the Board. If any candidate is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/her then he will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams.

Such an abnormal situation has developed due to present alarming situation due to surge of the pandemic and the board is helpless in this situation. The decision taken by the board authority seems to be a right step in the prevailing situation. They would evaluate the performance of the candidates based on their past performance and final result will be declared. There is also the scope of reevaluation of the same by conducting a fresh examination when the situation normalises. It is the only due to present abnormal situation which has compelled the board to differ the examination.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has been requesting the government and CBSE to cancel the exams and that has been agreed now. Nevertheless the cancel of exams would surely derail the enthusiastic studying students who want to create ranking or grades would be failed. This year the whole education system is going haywire as the cancelleation and postponement causing concern and disturbance to the higher classes to which the parents and the students are more worried. The education department is also at a loss as they need to take care of the political demands and also students safety.

I think in this bad situation when the pandemic is rising through its second wave it is better to postpone or cancel these exams and find out some methodology of promoting these students with some average score based on their progress as recorded in the monthly tests.
    Thoughts exchanged is knowledge gained.

The education has gone for six in India as the second surge of virus causing havoc and in this regard main exams are either cancelled or postponed indefinitely. Even the TRS govt has cancelled the 10th class exams in the state and thus the candidates may be promoted to Intermediate if the situation continues. Last year also the TS govt has promoted the candidates without writing the exams and this practice may hamper the future education very badly as the dull and the clever students are made to pass and they would find competition to higher class in near future. There must be further thought process to conduct the exams on line.
