Why not a common nationwide entrance test for Engineering also?
We all know that for admission to medical courses the Central government is conducting a common test nationwide and all the state and central colleges will also take candidates based on the ranks obtained in that test.But for engineering students, there are different entrance tests. IITs and NITs will conduct a separate test for admission into IITs and NITs. All the states are conducting separate entrance tests for admissions into their state colleges. All Central universities are conducting a different test. This is making a student write 2 or 3 examinations and sometimes the dates will clash and students will have a tough time. So I feel it is better to conduct a common entrance test nationwide for engineering admissions also. This is will make the life of the student better. He can concentrate on one examination and prepare for that.
Some may say that the college standards are different. That is true and for that differentiation, the cut off marks can be kept different for IITs, NITs and other colleges. I like to know the views of members on this subject.
