    The true meaning of Christmas

John, Mahesh and Ali are very good friends. Their families stay in the same street. They study in the same school, same class and same section. As they are neighbours, they have a family friendship. During festivals, all the three families get together and celebrate the festival. John's father is very fond of photography and he owns a beautiful Kodak camera. Whenever they all get together, he takes photos with his camera and makes an album for each get-together and keeps them for future references. Even Corona couldn't stop them to meet last year on festival days. When they all meet, they go through the old photographs and enjoy their old memories.

This year Christmas is fast approaching and John's family is getting ready to host the get-together. Recently the schools are reopened and they started attending school. While commuting from and to school they are making many plans about the festival celebrations in John's house. The get together in Mahesh's house will be for Vijayadashami and Ramazan is the day of getting together in Ali's house. The real secularism of the country will be seen in the friendship of these three families.

They await Christmas very eagerly as they receive beautiful gifts from their parents. The kids thought that they should purchase small gifts for their parents with the little money they have and they should give a surprise to the parents on Christmas day. It is just two days for Christmas. All the three kids collected the money they have in their piggy banks and went to the shop. After a long search, they could find beautiful pen sets which they can afford with the amount they have. Each set will have two pens. They took three sets and kept them very secretly in the house of John. They are feeling excited by imagining the happiness they can see in the faces of their parents after receiving these gifts.

The festival has arrived. Everywhere festive look and the faces of the three boys are glittering. They are very anxious to receive and offer gifts from and to the parents. All the three families gathered in John's house. The three kids are very happy to receive new clothes from their parents. Christmas cake cutting and distribution is also completed. After dinner, the families are about to go to their house by saying bye to John and his family members. John and the other two kids went inside and brought the gifts packets and offered them to their parents. The parents felt proud of the good manners shown by their kids.

They are the real satisfied parents as their children understood the true meaning of Christmas that is "to forget the selfish nature and to think only of others and also to know how to bring in the happiness to others"

The author has brought in the national integration concept in this wonderful writing as people belonging to all the religion together celebrate the great festival of Christmas. For the children this is the joy festival of receiving numerous gifts and for the elders it is the joy of sharing. Probably this is the only festival that is celebrated across the world and the joy can be enormous to the fact that in some countries it is celebrated for a month and the children are given leave in the schools. When the gifts are kept on getting through this festival the children would be happy and they would not fight with each other for having got less rated gifts. So this festival always bring in joy and enjoyment in the kids as the Santas would be moving round to give whole lots of gifts to the children and want to see smile in their faces.

A touching story by the author. The children using their small pocket money to buy gifts from their parents is a very interesting and nice gesture which must had made the parents feel proud of their children. These people are belonging to different religions but are celebrating all the festivals with the same zeal and vigor and that is one good point which shows the national integration aspect in this story. In a multi religion society mixing with each other and celebrating each other's festivals is a great thing which definitely brings communal harmony and coexistence in the society.
    Knowledge is power.
