    TRAI orders Telecom companies to provide 30 days validity service

    Everytime we recharge our cell phone the amount paid is for 30 days and the companies would do it for 28 days only thereby cheating the customers every time. The TRAI has received numerous complaints from the customers and asked the regulatory authorities to prevail upon the Telecom companies to provide 30 days validity for every recharge made. Presently the companies are denying our full service with 14, 28, 56 and 84 days validity period and we have been denied the balance days every time. TRAI also asked the companies to offer one recharge plan, one special plan and one combo offer for the customers to choose. What is your say ?

    This is very much required because sometimes these companies are encouraging and motivating us for 84 days or 365 days plan which suits them as they collect the money in advance for the most popular pre paid plans. When people go for short periods then many people make a gap also in between which is a loss to these companies and that is the reason why they give special cash backs and gifts etc for long time plans.
    My data use was very less and there is one company which gave 20 GB data for merely Rs 50 for a validity of 28 days. That scheme became so popular that all those who were having less data use went for it and other schemes were not subscribed by these people and soon the company closed that scheme. It is interesting to note that company closed the scheme which was the biggest revenue generator for it. They closed it because that was indirectly causing loss to them. So, TARAI has taken cognisance of this fact and taken a good decision.

    That is good. Why a month should be given only for 28 days. It should be 30 days. Many people are asking the service providers to make it 30 days recharge always. But they are not taking any positive steps. Now TRAI asked them to keep the recharge period for 30 days. I think now the service providers may make it 15, 30, 56 and 84 as the time periods for their plans. That is also not fair. They should make it 15, 30, 60 and 90 days. If they are implementing the same there is no issue. Otherwise, we have to raise an issue again.
    Now the service providers should not increase the charges pro-rata when they are implementing the TRAI recommendations. Many people these days are having multiple SIMs and as the charges are increased now many may not renew all the SIMs I feel. Let us wait and see.
