Should India act as a mediator to end the war between Russia and Ukraine?

Russia has been fighting Ukraine for more than a month, with Ukraine devastated by a series of attacks by Russian troops. There are good friendly relations between India and Russia. At the same time, global initiatives for peace talks between the two countries have intensified. Therefore, the role of India is very important in this case. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has hinted about mediation on his visit to India. Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is coming to visit India on April 3-5. A solution is likely to be found to end the ongoing war in Ukraine. After talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold talks with Naftali Bennett. At the same time, it is being said that at the end of Naftali's visit, Narendra Modi may hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. If Naftali and Modi talk to Putin and Zelensky, a solution to the war will be found. How justifiable is India's mediation in the current context of the world? What is your opinion?

Nobody will care about India in the world except for business purposes or for Marketing their goods because of population size. Already Modi did the same but no one cared.Zelensky also asked the PM of India to converse with Putin. Putin not even cared about our PM.

The question is not about whether a specific country mediates rather efforts from all corners should be there to stop this unnecessary war. This is a loss to both nations and many innocents have lost their lives. Ukraine is ravaged. Presidents and PMs of various countries meet each other as a part of bilateral engagement and in the case of the Russia-Ukraine war, nothing seems to be working out. World leaders are commenting and issuing warnings to Russia but the war continues. Our PM also talked to the officials of both Russia and Ukraine earlier but no solution was found. Everyone hopes the war to end but when and how seems to be a question whose answers are not known.

The invasion of Russia into Ukraine has showcased a very big change in the International community that hence forth the so called Big boss tag carried by US is not at all cared and the way Russia braced up war against all odds has proven that Russia is the leading super power now and thankfully India is having close relations with Moscow. The way the Russian Minister parleyed for India to buy the discounted fuel or oil from Russia proved that Putin has high esteem for our country. India is the emerging super power and therefore has every chance to mediate and end the war. All these days India was taken the center stand and now likely to tilt towards dialogue and stop of the war as world economy is going from bad to worse to which even US also wants Russia to end war and India has big boss role here to play.

India has the every interest to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine and in order to normalise the relation between the two, our PM have had talks with both the presidents but unfortunately the ego of these two presidents are not likely to end. Though Putin has every interest to offer us their oils at the discounted price to show its bond of friendship but regarding the issues of ending war from its sides, no promise is forthcoming.
Though there is every possibility of end of the war soon but sooner it ends, the better for both the countries.

I want to add one more thing the Two countries are combatting because of their country's specific interests? How India will mediate the war and stop the War? Can India sanction or imposed bans on anything between the two countries? The Answer is No. the U.S.A did the same but Russia never care about them. So it summons up the situation and India mediating...

My personal opinion is that Russia is looking for an excuse to get out of the war it started against Ukraine. Whatever may happen and whoever may mediate, the sanctions against Russia may continue for some time. Those sanctions are big trouble for Russia.

India has emerged as one of the powers in economic as well as political scenario in the South-East Asia region. It has good relations with Russia. Mr Modi is being seen as a man against terrorism and war in the world and is also accepted as a leading and successful diplomat in the world political arena. The business community worldwide is believing the words of Mr Modi and taking their investment actions based on that. All this in the background Mr Modi is definitely a person who can request Russia to give a stop to this war and resolve the conflict on the conference table. But the main thing is that Mr Modi has to think twice before taking such a step because doing this would mean that India has a soft corner for Ukraine due to the business and other important reasons. If Russia does not listen to India for stopping the war then it would be a diplomatic defeat for India and all these things are to be considered before requesting Russia to stop war.

Unnecessary hype by using powerful words like superpower and ultra power will not help anything. India is more reliant on these countries as they imported many goods from the two... Without bearing this mind or acting or showing gratitude will not help India's economy or it will not help India's economic ranking index in the world.....Being educated doesn't hide the current situation in India. India's present action is not mediating what they should see for survival...India took lots of debts from other countries, the World Bank, and also from China...

India and its present leaders know their boundaries. They know to what extent they should go and where they have to stop. They don't want to become enemies to any nation. They have their own reasons. When there is a problem between India and Pakistan, India told the whole world, that they don't want anybody to interfere and they themselves will solve the problem. So they know that the other country may think along similar lines.
India is a big country with a very high population and other nations will have an interest in this country as they can do good business. The manpower is cheap in our country. So many nations will try to be good to India but at the same time, they may not accept whatever they say. So I think there will be no use. However, some attempts were made which went waste.

In the international arena, there must be a concern for the country's interests, which is nothing new. But in the modern age, no one can accept the brutality of war. Therefore, it is important to stop the war as soon as possible, keeping in mind the dire situation. The damage that happened in Russia and Ukraine is yet to be remedied. At the mediator level, the situation in India is relatively better than in other countries, so the Russian foreign minister has said in his own words that India can come forward. But India has to move forward on the basis of the present situation and keep in mind its long-term own interests.

Whatever they say in public and their inner feelings will be never the same. It's a diplomatic art. Even Imran Khan praises India will he agree with the stand of India on the Kashmir issue? So please don't get fooled or conclude that everyone is in favor of India and India will be a superpower in the near future maybe it's only self-satisfaction...
